I believe that hydrogen is the answer not batteries, hydrogen only needs a more efficient source than currently available. If you read new scientist there was an article this year about some scientist that were near to a highly effective and efficient way of sourcing hydrogen that could lead to home based near free fuel stations.

So, who in ASF would be the first to hack the sound generating system in their electocycle while 3/4 pissed, and replace the sound with a recording of themselves yelling "Vroom Vroom, rrrrRRRRR, rrrrRRRRRR, rrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" ??

you can release hydrogen from water by passing a current through it. hydrogen fuel cells work on a similar principal however they are working on osmotic barriers that release it with minimal input. at the moment it takes my juice in then what you get out so its not a viable tech as yet.

I have helped a local bloke in devon england to redesign a devise he uses in his transit van that uses electrolasys to produce hydrogen and oxygen. It saves him 30% of his fuel cost and is so basic and crude he is trying to take it global. Basic physics I thought of making one for my van and to fit to a bike but safety and insurance issues put me off. credit crunch fuck off i am flat out putting windows in clutch covers and welding to have the time.

Electric is green?. Sorry FAIL. The emmisions produced to make one battery is way more than a fuckin cadilac can produce in 1,000,000 k's.
    so sorry ELECTRIC
    FAIL

Power stations run on upwards of 60% efficiency.
You'd be lucky if your car/bike runs at 15% efficiency.
That doesn't take into account all the energy lost in refining and transporting the fuel...
It would cost about $1-$2 to "refuel" an electric car.

Newest technology batteries and electric motors are delivering some serious performace - check out the electric drag bike if you don't believe me. And this is being achieved WITHOUT major support from the big manufacturers. If they got behind it and sorted the technology I think electric vehicles could out perform petrol powered. DC motors put out huge torque from almost zero RPM and as there are no reciprocating parts can really rev out.

I'm all for new technology that keeps two wheels on the road. Styling is ghey and OTT but I think thats the point. For some reason manufacturers feel the need to do electric styled cars in a futuristic manner, but when they get passed this I think it will be much more of possibility for regular joes.

The only drawback I reckon is when you pull all the plastics off it'll be that much harder to hide the wiring
Unfortunately electricity losses due to transmission over distance run at about 70% - 80% which turns the 60% generator efficiency into about 15%.. Which doesn't include losses due to inefficiencies in charging batteries, mechanical losses in the vehicle itsel or the inefficiencies in processing and transporting fuel to the generator in the first place... The point about just moving CO2 emissions is a good one..

watching top gear the other week they were showing off the latest hydrogen car from the u.s. this thing produces enough electrickry to run your house and could be as fast as the Killacycle. electric dragbike 6+ second passes from about 990 litium ion phone batteries. i like it. you get home and you plug your house into your car to recharge the house. hahahaha.
no but seriously the more cars running on this technology mean fossil fuels will last longer and can only be used for motorcycles
