    8 seconds for 8 grand ( Hopefully)

Ok so here's my little side project.
After Casino I got all keen to build a drag bike although funds arent allowing an all out weapon at the moment plus I want to see how quick/fast I can get a sub 1000cc bike to go on a budget, since I had a spare ZX9R engine & frame lying around I thought this would be an obvious choice.
The plan is to build an 8 second bike without spending more than 8 grand (actuall cash outlay since deciding to do this). To make this happen I needed to scavenge around the workshop & see what parts I could scrounge up then spend the money in the right areas to make it fast.

The frame had seen better days. It was actually in my workshop fire a couple of years ago although it only got smoke damaged & covered in shit. I put it in storage & thought I'll use that one day. That was lucky hey.....

I also found my original forks from the Bitza (ZXR750 Back when it had a fairing)).
They were in bits in a box so I took the opportunity to shorten them,I also found that I didn't have an original stem for the clamps but I found a GSXR one in another box along with some near new bearings, a spacer was made & they matched up nicely. Then everything was coated in some Rattle can matt black.......

Next up I figured I'd need a stretched arm but an aftermarket one was out of the question so I thought I'd make up some extensions & weld them into the original arm. I wanted 12 inches over but the piece of ally I found (left over from another job) only allowed 10 inches.......oh well that'll have to do, so I stuck it on the trusty mill.............

    & made some of this.............

    & two of these........

I also bashed out some dents on the frame & welded on some lugs to re-attach the previously removed subframe.
Then it also got the matt black treatment.....

I also found a GSXR shock in my workshop search & figured it could be made to fit nicely. Oh & I added a brace to the arm too.

A search round some forums netted a second hand tank & some bodywork
I also found some clipons in another box in my workshop( originally off my TL) modded to fit.........sweet.
Then Stu & I struck a deal for the wheels off his ZX10R, some spacers were made & I now I have a roller......

Now for the fun stuff GT 2876 turbo (good for 450+hp but Im not aiming for anywhere near that), Tial 38mm external wastegate (thanks ebay), & flanges

S/hand Intercooler (thanks booster) & air/co2 shifter ( made up of second hand & new parts), GSXR750 Throttle bodies (thanks Balakov) WRX injectors sard regulator & walbro pump (thanks ebay)

Im using standard pistons that have been HPC coated (aftermarket would be nice but it's not in the budget)

I'm sure it'll end up a "showroom quality" budget build too Be keeping an eye on this thread.

Hyo, I wen't to my shed and all I found was a socket set and some bars Ben just send down (Cheers Ben and Si). At least you had empty rum cans.

A budget build...I like it. The progression from getting on the track to getting tuned for the track should be interesting especcially if it's going to be anywhere near 450hp

If I knew you were after a tank I'd have given you the ZX9 one I have in the shed. Oh well. Great start Ben and knowing you it will scream

Nice work Ben. If I was to put all the parts in my shed together, I'd have a 81 z250 with a gs frontend and rf900 screen
