    T-713, NTB'sTurbo Busa engined GSXR750

Many of you saw Pete's bike at fools, but for those that didn't heres some pics & a rundown of what we did.
This is how it used to look .

Pete had been telling me for a while that he wasn't happy with the way his bike handled, & that he wanted to do a frame conversion.Something diferent, So we kept our eyes open for something suitable. Then this K5 750 frame came up & the plan was hatched.

Before I knew it there was a Busa engine sitting on my bench with a 750 frame sitting on top, they clearly weren't going to mate without a fight..................time to sit down & have a beer......or 3 & contemplate our options.

Pete couldn't wait to start hacking into the sucker, so I said first job is to remove the original cast engine mounts from the main spa..............before I could finish, they were gone.

Then he proceded to cut 30mm out of the frame, I reckon he was enjoying himself. Note the bottle of hand steadier there.

As you can see a fair amount had to be cut away to accomodate the motor.

Then he fabricated new mounts out of 16mm plate on his CNC at work, & got his 'beer fueled welding bitch' to Tig em in place, & the rest of the frame was plated back up.

& sanded then readied for blasting / powdercoating.

Here's the finished frame back from the powdercoaters, done in gloss black to match the swingarm & wheels.

The Busa running gear was reinstalled & some alternate seating options were discussed. Maybe we'd had too many beers here.

The tank is off a k2 Thou & was chosen because it sloped up at the front which created a 30mm gap between the tank & the frame. This was needed because the intercooler had to sit under the tank due to the lack of clearance at the front.

The fork tubes were anodised black & we had to modify the lower triple ( because they were originaly raked out) & make a new top triple to suit. They run a larger offset than a 750 which helps stability.

I should probably mention here that this was 3 weeks before fools & we still had shitloads to do, as you can see here the intercooler was going to take some <s>beer</s> thought to work out.
Then Pete comes in one day & says "I've gotta go overseas for a couple of weeks, you'll be right to finish this up won't ya"[:0]
He said he'd be back a week before fools so he could finish off any loose ends then, then he handed me a case of beer & said good luck........

After some head scratching & lots of <s>drinking</s>thinking, this is what I came up with for the cooler/plenum. Amazingly it actually works quite well.

The tank was also modded to take the boost controler.

We started running short on time by now so there weren't any more progress pics happening.
Pete got back 4 working days before the fools run & the bike still had to be painted, the shifter had to be fitted & the headlight still had to be made/fitted, plus numerous other fiishing off bits.
    Time for some late nights........
In the end we finished it at 3pm Wednesday Pete went for a quick spin around the block then we loaded in the van for the trip to Casino.

Great work Ben and Pete, looks like it was always in there.
Any idea how much weight you saved?
Noticed when datalogging on my under tank air/air shrouding for proper airflow thru the intercooler is needed.i think it was ~20c difference in temps.

Yeah now we've got some time, we'll do some tests & make some ducting.
The frame only came in about 4kg lighter but the whole bike hasn't been weighed yet to see the total weight loss, should be around 10kg methinks, cause we took a lot of shit off it.The main thing is the geometry is much better.

superb - looks even better in the flesh - i love the perspex head light bracketry - makes the whole assembly look like its floating in air. A credit to you guys - really couldn't tell it was built/finished in such a short amount of time.
Deffinately no corners cut that I could see.
