Suzuki K7 750 for the wife!

OK, so I wasn't looking for anything in particular to build or have in general. The new wife sold her bike before our wedding as she felt the money towards the wedding would be better off that having the bike she wasn't using.
I didn't argue as she wouldn't make me sell mine.

Anyhoo, long story short, I come across this bike on fuckbook market place.
    Its a GSXR K7 750. The story behind it and why it isn't a write off goes like this;

The owner, lent it to a mate, who crashed it into a parked car. This so called "mate" didn't have a bike licence.
So the insurance couldn't be claimed as it wouldn't pay out. Said mate pays 8k for the bike, and the owner sells on the bike for more money and has a win-win situation.

So being lucky enough to be looking at the right time on market place, I picked this bike up for 1200 bucks.
Has rego till July 2019. No frame damage, no engine damage.

The plan is to fighter this. I was going to use the parts from the 7/11 as that bike still hasn't been back together for over a year, but I'm having trouble making that choice. I am going to try and get her to want this as her own stand alone bike, and keep the 7/11 going and in time get it back on the road. I'll keep ya posted either way.

There are Pro's and Cons with either way, but for now, I'll get this thing running again first.

    Let the madness begin!

Strip down has started, doesn't look to bad naked.

After a few discussions with the wife, this will be a remake of the 7/11. She is persistent that while we save for our house, we not have to many rego's and the 7/11 costs a bomb to rego. So 2 EFI bikes it will be.

So Stripped the fork off and checked over them, straight surprisings to see.

Had the wheels off and cleaned up as well.

Still waiting on some parts to get the engine started and running before I start cosmetic.

Got my replacement tank yesterday and fitted it up. Its an 08 tank but still fits the 07 frame.

Next up, new radiator, clutch cover and then it should be ready to start up.

So now the real fun begins, and I have managed after a bit of research to install the K7 1000 swingarm and wheel.
The swinger has been painted black and all I need to do is make a set of dogbone links 150mm long.
I have a temp set of plates in there right now to get the right height and this is how it stands.

Next is a trip to Ben to get the triples stem swapped over. But progress is progress and I'm please everything is work so well for now.

    MY K7 Fighter

OK yeah I dont muck around, and its alot easier when you have a donor bike and 1/2 the parts you want on it.
Its being all transferred from the 7/11 to the K7.
Yes it is sad to pull down the 7/11, but I'm looking forward to the K7 being a lot more ride-able and wife friendly.
Yes, I want my wife to be able to join me on the fighter but with her own ride.
Anyhoo, a slight mock up of the tail section. It will be blended into a race unit I already have so the front 1/2 will be K7 race with the fighter tail. Trust me it wont be this steep, but it will be kicked.

Sad to see you parting out the 7/11, but at the same time good to be building this for the Mrs and using some of the parts

Like Jules said, sad to see the 7/11 pulled down. But this will be a kick ass bike. like all the bikes you've build.

Thanks to Ben, I now have the custom triples on the K7 bike.

Now the forged wheels are on the K7, its taking shape!

Next up is wire in the dash board and also the tail section.
Followed by other cosmetic works before final paint.

I've not just done a mock up on most of the panels and I think its going to be one killer bike.
I'm currently working on the rear part of the sub frame to attached the new tail to.
One thing about Suzuki's is they have the 2 part sub frame, which has made this easier than the R1.

Next will be the relocation of the ignition barrel and new expansion bottle placement.

I'm pushing this thing along as I don't want to waste to much rego that it has. I also would love to see it on the road anyway.
I did finish the sub-frame yesterday but forgot to take photo's so will be getting some soon. I need to adjust some looms in the rear.
But the inners are just about done, just have to sort the body work out to join new to old.
