For anyone who was also thinking about going down this path.
It has cost me about $385 for the headlight and windshield alone from Peter Stevens.
Surprisingly comes with the light globes too.

Ok, so it has 2 mounts at the top side, and then 2 mounts at the top rear.
Now get a photo of the position you want it mounted on the bike allowing for the dash as well. This way we'll see where those mounts line up with and what the best solution will be.

thanks for getting back to me gix !
i'll take some shots of where the headlight will be mounted once i remove the oem cluster and headlight.

It also looks to have a pair of pins on the bottom for locating into a mounting frame

Fuck me, they almost perfectly line up with your triple clamps! The simplest way I can see for the bottom would be to create two brackets that mount on the two bolts of the lower triple clamp, one for each side. Bend it to create a mount for the bottom plastic pegs, but make the hole oversize and place a tight fitting rubber grommet in there so the pins locate snuggly into a rubber mounted hiolder to stop vibration.
At the top, you could either adapt your top clamp point somehow, or alternatively try some like this http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...spx?pid=393575 to create a top clamp on the forks that is low profile. 3rd option would be to mount something from your ignition block out to either side.

gix11, do you think those brackets you've suggested from super cheap will be strong enough to hold the headlight without it slipping ? or should I invest in some sort of fork clamp brackets

Jokes aside it is amazing what you can do with just zip ties
My shit fight's body work and things like horn are just held on with zip ties

here is how someone has changed their XB to a CR headlight, yours may not line up exactly like this but it may give you some ideas.

no doubt ozzy1100 !! i'm using zip ties to hold my coolant overflow baby bottle in place lol
thanks simo74 !! i'm going to look at that thread.

damn that thread is awesome simo !!
is it a good idea to drill into my triple tree though ?

As long as you drill it right first time and in the right spot you will have no problem. Guys have been drilling their clamps for years to add risers to convert from clip-ons.
As mentioned before, if you are worried, go the clamp idea instead. As for will tye support it, it's only a light unit, and the weight will be held by the bottom mounts, so the top is literally just holding it from falling forward, so those clamps would be plenty.
The guy in the other topic has used the other idea I mentioned about coming from the centre outwards with a bracket. That would hide things more.
