Been trying to find the best way to visit the Barrier reef. Somewhere comfy and quiet , but not too expensive for three of us to stay at and good access to snorkelling on the reef. Has anyone got any experience and can recommend anywhere>
Bowen is a small hick town but it is the closest point to the reef. Cairns will cost you loads more.

Well, only 6 days to go until we leave UK and 7 until we land in Brizzy. Gonna spend first 3 weeks with both daughters and then after July 18 head north to Cairns and then south, hugging the coast as far as Melbourne or Tasmania.
