^^^ you're not not wrong, took fucking hours, 20thou per cut, fucken 4140, good stuff but slips in the chuck
Drilling the length of it ???
Good luck mate.
^^^ haha, yeah, you're not wrong, have a special drill bit coming, "supposed to stay straight" we shall see, but will attack from both ends, with a bit of luck will meet some where without a step, otherwise will make again and leave it solid through the guts!
I always just make my own out of a std drill bit and bar stock
Thought about making one but not confident enough and the one I'm getting only just over 100 bux 315mm long, supposed to have some special point on it to keep it centred, (never heard of this before, but will soon find out)
I use a new std drill bit and silver solder, braze, or s/s stick weld to the stock well both are held centre in the lathe....
Your way is easier.... Still sux arse of a job
Fuck this build is way cool, nice work. im so new and shit at lathes I love seeing anyone do cool shit with them.
Cheers, I've been around lathes, mills etc for longer than I care to remember, but has been around 10 years since the last time I've used/ had one, so re learning and trying different techniques and materials, also can be very frustrating and expensive when I fuck it up, which is a regular occurrence for me.
Much win
Nice work mate.
Thanks Blokes
It's fucking with my head big time, every time I get one thing sorted something else gets in the way, should be used to that crap by now though, been fuckin around with cars forever. tits and wheels haha!

Wow, can't believe it's been three years since the last post on this thing, haven't really done much on it too hot out there but hopefully next year will put some A/C's in there and start again.
In the mean time I got a new Jaffa
Hell yea! Those new things look the business.
