Mate, you wouldn't know those bits you've done and coated weren't factory jobs. Excellent work.

Will we be seeing it at the AFR?

    Thanks Chaps

I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out. I wanted it to look like it came from the factory.
As I'm on holidays now (new baby) I won't be able to make it to the AFR.
I've done everything to the bike bar the powder coating.
The next big project with the Buell is an 88" kit, Mikuni carb, XB heads and big cams, But that has to wait I just want to go for a ride!

Well sickboy you are half right
It is an XB rear end but its in a 1998 S3T.
I cut the whole rear subframe off and then made a copy of the S1's, I used 3/4" chrome molly tubing. I also added the brace on the left side of the frame as on the 99 models. For the swingarm I just made adapters on my lathe, They still use the original bearings so it's easier for parts replacements.
I had to cut out the original battery box and make a new one, The battery is now in a similar position as the X1 Buell. I'm using an Odyssey PC535 battery. I made a top shock mount thats now behind the rear cylinder. This mod allowed me to make a new exhaust that takes the space wear the original shock used to be. I've since some of these earlier pictures were taken, Cut the top shock mount and moved it back 10mm to raise the rear ride height. I also cut the pillion peg mounts from the frame for single seat rego.

    Here's some earlier pics

Here's the work stand I made to make the job easier.

The S3 after removing the fairing

    Cut down cam cover

I bought new 06 XB wheels from St Paul H/D in the US.

I modified XB headers to fit then wrapped with heat wrap.

26 Tooth front pulley from Baker.

Here's my muffler I made out of 2 hot dogs. The triangle section is for the oil lines to pass through.

Oil line routing, These will be replaced with earls fittings and braided lines.

Because the side stand was on the rear peg hangers, Once I cut them off I had to make a new one. I made all bar the spring and bolt.

Because I used the XB steering lock I didn't need the stock one, So I plugged it.

I made the heel guards, The left side never had a mount so I made one and welded it on.

The rear pulley is a heavily modified stock 55Tooth job. It had 5 mounting holes that I welded up then machined and redrilled 6 holes to suit the XB wheel. Finished in wrinkle black to look factory.

Force winder I bought of a mate in the US.

    Steering lock.

Spacer for the rear pulley, to track belt.

    Home made dash

    Home made exhaust clamp.

Madarts Photo shop of my bike.

    Before photo shop.

This is the only picture I have of the bike in it's original unmodified state.

    complete exhaust system.

    Dash

Battery tray, I made out of chrome molly sheet.

My home made speed sensor for the Digi-Beast that Ben told me how to make.

    Cheers
    Jodie

Here's some old youtube video links of my Buell.
I must apologize in advance for the poor shed burn out! The front tyre kept slipping on the extension lead...Thats my excuse any way

    News Update!

I took the Right fork slider, rear spring and oil cooler bracket to get powder coated today, Should have them back early next week.

I also did the big mission of finding the oil lines for the project too...Fuck me! I got the run around!!!!
3 different places and all finding it to hard to help!
Originally wanted Earls Performance oil fittings etc but no one stocks the shit even though they sell it
So I went with Speedflow products, Look just as good as Earls and slightly cheaper Earls and Speedflow don't make fittings to suit the oil cooler so had to use and modify some fittings I found at Kingaroy Hydraulics.

Here's some pictures of most of the oil lines fitted, I cant finish it until I have the oil cooler bracket back and have the muffler fitted back in place.

    Cheers
    Jodie
