    81 CB750 project

Yes, yes, it's a dirty Honda.... but what could I say when it followed me home?

Been on the lookout for a project lately and this came past at a reasonable price (in a time when old bikes are demanding obscene money by some crazy people)

The bike is also as old as me so it has to be a good thing right

    Dragged her home last night..

The rest of her fit in the back of the car...

Doesn't look too bad in the light of day

And also happened to come with this funky engine stand thanks to the previous owner being a fitter & turner

Yeah I know them well, lol.

I worked in a bike shop years back and we used to be the agents for Peugeot scooters amongst other bikes.

Nice find Jules (even if it is an old Honda). As Lynton has got his aqua blaster up and running now I'm guessing you'll be around to the old fudge packers place with a few (all) of your bits and pieces for a makeover. Interested to see what you do with this one. Welcome back to the world of proper air cooled bikes

So over 2 years on and decided to pull this thing out of storage and blow the cobwebs off it and see what parts i haven't lost, lol.

First to sort out will be the engine. Time for a proper clean up and assessment of what I have to work with so I can plan forward from here.

Enter stage left... the wonders of Aqua blasting.

    From this...

    To this goodness...

Unfortunately all the latest trend and dribble of cafe moccha has gotten a bit too much and everyone and his dog seems to think, hey lets rip it off (not even look at the 30 year old engine), weld a hoop on, a leather seat and some paint and presto.... she must be worth $8k now....

So in search for inspiration I have come across something that has influenced me to try and head in this direction. Still has a nice retro look, but rather than going minimal on the tail (especially due to the massive CB tank) go a slightly different route.

It may not be to everyones taste, but to me that tail just works and balances the bike nicely. The pictured bike is actually a more modern CB fitted with a tank same as mine. Plan for me was always to go modern running gear and I have a front end of a Gixxer 600 sitting there just for this project. Back end, we'll see how it pans out.

Will be a while till she's done and she won't be the fastest out there, but I'd like to build her properly the first time around.
