LAMS in Wolfs Clothing - Synistah's XJ6 Fighter Build

Hey guys,

So I have recently taken the interest and initiative to Street Fighter my bike which is a 2010 Yamaha XJ6 Diversion. I got the idea from my friends Hyosung GT650.. which is a complete monster and just gives off a kickass vibe.
I have been posting around the past few days seeking general advice and opinions for the build, and have received some amazing support and feedback from multiple members. I would like to give a HUGE thank you and shout out to: CruiseControl

So with this build i have assigned multiple stages and a budget for each set stage. As each stage progresses i will post build and technical updates as well as pictures, dilemmas and success.

Motorcycle: 2010 Yamaha XJ6 Diversion (600cc Inline 4 LAMS Approved)

Current Stage: #1
Current Budget: $3000.00




STAGE #1:
-Front End Conversion; 2006 R6 Upside Down Forks - Including Calipers, Clamps etc.
-Front and Rear Spiegler Braided Brake Lines(Gold)
-Valter Moto Type 2.5 Adjustable Rearsets (Gold)
-Custom modified Belly Pan from 2010 Kawasaki Z750
-Street Fighter Headlight /w Phantom 4 Mask & 2x H8 Bulbs
-Reposition Instrument Cluster & remove fairing stay
-Flat Black Paint

** R6 Steering Stem does not fit inside the XJ6 frame and will require machining.
** Top Yoke modification required as the XJ6 is 23mm and the R6 is 27mm
** Custom Bearings need to be made by spec TOP: 30x47x12, BOTTOM: 31x55x18



STAGE #2:
-2004 Honda CBR1000 Tail End Conversion
-2008 R1 Rear Shock Conversion
-Rework Exhaust Components
-FZ6 Cam + Timing Upgrade
-Power Commander + Dyno Tune



STAGE #3:
-Single Side Swingarm Conversion
-Holeshot Contrast Cut Rear Wheel by RC Components
-Further engine modifications


Aspects of the build may change over time, but the general concept will remain the same. A streetable, practical yet aggressive and head turning 'Street Fighter' styled motorcycle to be used on a daily basis.

Any work is planned to be carried out by myself and several friends, However should anything be out of reach for our current skill sets all required work will be carried out by Mark Tudor of Mark Tudor Motorcycles based in Seven Hills, Sydney.
Going to have all machining and extreme custom work done by Extreme Creations based in Sydney.

Nice starting point, mate. I was mentally picturing the 90's Diversion but the new ones look pretty sharp!
Chop that chunk of snot off the tail and as you said, a set of USDs and new headlight and it will come up a treat.

Yeah, for a LAMS bike they look absolutely beautiful and i think would make a really nice fighter, It's all super clean and well made by Yamaha. Very nice platform to work on.

Technically called the FZ6R over here, but been on so many US forums i'm used to describing it as the XJ6.

Have a look at the Venhill lines from Mono(support someone that supports the forums) instead of the Spiegler's

They look soooo wrong with huge undertail support .

Yeah, That huge undertail is ridiculous.. Thankfully it's already gone and replaced with a fabricated tail tidy.

Appreciate the feedback on the format, I tried to keep it clear and concise.

First order of business will be to take the stock triples and R6 triples to Ben at Extreme Creations so he can machine everything up.
