Hi, I'm whitelineweaver from the west coast.

Recently acquired a 2001 zx9r and more recently came off it. I'm not really a fan of the full fairing look but the bike was cheap and I liked the power.

I took the side fairings off and thought it looked pretty good naked. I put my new fairings search on hold and started looking at other options, which has led me here.

I'm not committed to full streetfighter mode yet, and I'm nooo mechanic, so I'm just doing the mods necessary to make it a presentable, no-frills, naked bike for now. Cheap round headlight and indicators, bar end mirrors (that took some research) and the air box mod (even more research). I'm keeping the stock speedo and mounting it closer. I like the cafe racer look but do like the comfort of higher handlebars so maybe I'll change down the track. It has a shortened AM pipe on it, and I've got a speedoDRD to install to compensate for the sprocket change. It's mostly kwaka green, which is not my favourite colour but it will grow on me.

From past experience (I'm almost 40 BTW) I probably shouldn't be doing this but I can't help myself, I like being different! As long as she goes ok and doesn't look like shit I'll be happy.

I obviously joined to get free advice. Please forgive me, I'm desperate! I've spent hours and hours googling and have a question or two. Yes, the fucking ram air!

Welcome to the madness, it always starts out as a few small mods, mirrors, bars, indicators etc...

Have a look around, you don't need to be a master on the tools. You'll surprise yourself with what you can actually do.

Welcome. As ice said, plenty here started as you are now. And a few have done airbox/ramed air mods , I've taken non ramed air bikes and made them ramed air.

Coast hey . Im in northam not to far away . I had a hyo and it was a good fun bike had a few issues with it mechanically but warranty sorted them out so now i have a vfr750 fightered and the dirt fighter gsx1100g trench wench

welcome mate you will have to do the airbox mod otherwise it will run like shit when you remove the ram air
