A short but brisk 273k (170 mile) loop today.
Over Mt G, around Somerset, across for a few runs through Peachester
    and back over Mt Mee.

Found the pic on a photographers website.
    Looks like Mt Glorious.
Must be an old pic, I think that's a 2012 rego label ?

3,500k's of tinkering and I'm done.
Played with front preload, rebound and compression, rear preload, compression and rebound.
Started with MCN suspension guide, various tyre pressures and with / without 30mm jack-up blocks.
Doubt I can improve further without spending $$'s and the rest of the bike doesn't justify that.

As a big heavy low tech bike, that's still wearing its original suspension after 6 years... OK.

It makes me ride smoother, can't haunt it up on the brakes and fire it out on the throttle
like I can on the B-King. Nice and flowing suits it better or it get out of shape.

It doesn't ground out any longer, tips in and steers nice, pretty stable. Only downside
would be its getting a little vague at speed, "lose your licence" speeds won't suit it but
that's not what I use it for 99% of the time.

I think the 30mm lift on the rear is on the high side. Way better than standard for what I
want but wouldn't want any more. I'm only 80kg and I can tell if I have the preload wound
    up to high.

I've owned a lot worse and have other things I should be playing with. It'll do.

I'll keep tinkering away ready for that "GSX14 - Zephyr11" back to back comparison.

Imo all of the moden big bore nakeds like the 1400 started with the zephyr
so they arnt to disimula, the 1400 has lots more grunt than the std zeph but there is just someting about
the way a zephyr rides and carries its weight that you fall in love with and I have to say no 1400, xjr , cb etc is ever
going to look as good as a zephyr doing it
next question is do I only letr you test the sane one... or do u get a ride on the mental insane jobby lol

GSX1100G was a "modern big bore naked" before the ZR1100 I think ?

They went for a finned engine / chrome clocks and head light etc but then went all
sensible with the shaft drive and monoshock and completely missed the retro market
that was about to open up.

GSX1100G was certainly early 91, but the naked Blackbird X11 was a year or two before even that.

Zephyr was certainly the first of the big 4's retro's though.

after having the 11g as a dirt dragger i dont know about it on the road i reckon the weight and the rake/trail its got would make it great and stable on long runs but slow to handle the twisties , but the motor is so grunty down low and i couldnt fault the shaft for its strength , the old man had a zephyr 11 and he hated it everything about it , he had always been a zed man but didnt like the zephyr , wished he still had it but id take it off his hands , though i am always looking for 750 zef

750 was always my favourite of the Zephyr's, had two of them.
Only one that got the frame and looks right without the big casting near the swingarm (sorry Ozzy)
Did some huge miles around France on mine.
Soft suspension and a tame"ish" motor but I always had this vision of one with
modern running gear and a Gpz750 Turbo motor. A sort of modern mental Z650.
