They say they have 2.2M worth of stock, it's probably closer to 1M.

I was selling there stuff, it was nice to get a heads up.
    Not.
Anyway the way they valued items on their website was to make it appear you were getting a better deal when you were just paying rrp.
They were the official Joe Rocket importer.

    More info for those interested....

Dear reader, just as you probably expected to never hear from us again we are back. Not with a newsletter but with an offer. An offer like no other. You could call it the mother of all offers!

The situation is this: we have closed our door but we have $2.2 million dollar in stock that we want to sell. $2.2M of exhausts, motorbike jackets, pants, gloves, boots, sprockets, chains, screens is a LOT of inventory but we only have one day to sell it.

We are going to do something that has never been done before. Rather than charging per item we will charge an entry fee. By paying the entry fee you get entry to our 30,000sq ft warehouse and you can take whatever you can carry!

That's right. Pay an entry fee and you can take whatever you can carry. No bags or trolleys allowed, only what you naturally can carry. If you can carry 30 jackets then good for you!!

THIS IS FOR ONE DAY ONY. IT STARTS ON 11AM ON SUNDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER UNTIL ALL STOCK IS GONE!

We will send out more details tomorrow but this is how it will work:

    * All you can eat, although in this case it is all you can carry.
    * Entry for the first 50 is $900 for 1 hour of exclusive shopping.
    * No bags, trolleys of any kind. Only what you can carry naturally with your arms.
    * No holding of stock of any kind. Once stock is not presonally held someone else can take it.
    * Next entry is $500 for the next 100 people for 45 minutes shopping.
    * All entry is $350 thereafter will unlimited shopping.
    * 2 exhausts per visit maximum.
    * Entry fee is for one visit only. A second visit will incur a second entry fee.
    * There is very limited staff available for technical questions so do your research beforehand.
    * CASH ONLY!

The Industry in Aus is stuffed...imploded from greed.
Brighton Kawasaki, Sunbury Yamaha / Honda gone from Melb. More and more are following. Internet shopping killing the retail sector blah blah.

I wouldn't blame internet shopping, it is what it is now and if you want to survive you must remain competitive. There's nothing stopping these shops competing in the online world.
Tires for instance, offering them at RRP with free fitting is hardly what you would call competitive.
Was at the Yamaha shop one day asked how much for some powers he had on show "they're sold"... Not I can order some in for $X. Got a tire put on there one day wouldn't even give me a quote for fitting then proceeded to take an hour and fuck up the hex nut so I had to hammer a key in next time.
The markups don't have to be 100% +, if they offer better deals they'll sell more and it is a growing market.

In the past shops have quite simply ripped us off.
The internet has made that rather transparent.

Of course this doesn't apply to all shops.

More often than not, it's not the shops but the importers/wholesalers that set the prices.

If you don't believe me.... BGW was a good example with Pazzo levers. BGW got the import rights, but insisted that US sellers couldn't sell to Aus, so eGay stores actually specified they couldn't sell to Australian buyers.

(BGW also pissed off so many stores buy selling struff at prices less than the store could buy from them and make a profit on)

Whoever imports KTM parts has wrapped up a similar deal with no imports to Aus from the US..

MotoMummy advertised tyres recently but when an Aussie went to buy them, he was told his order had been refused cause they couldn't ship tro Australia.

    What's the answer?

Maybe we could get US shipping addresses?

Maybe we pay a bit more for local service...people like Mono are doing the right thing to get your custom.

Maybe we take a leaf out of the Baby Elephant's* book and stop drinking and slacking off and work in her mines for $2.50 an hour like the gooks are prepared to do.

    meh

As for the BGW sale, they've been selling a lot of stuff cheap for a while now.

I wonder how much good stuff they have left...?

Sucks I don't live in Sydney for this sale. I would think it would be a good business opportunity for someone in a shady line of work to make off with all the cash earned in that day, so they better have some epic security. haha

i would fill my arms with exhausts and rearsets and then i would start putting on jackets and pants and a pair of boots 1 person could easily walk out of there with 4-5 grand worth of shit

Do you have any idea of how many people are going to try and do the exact same thing. Good luck getting in the door

It'll be 50 people paying the full $900 only, for one hour, then $500 for the next 100 people for 45min,so it shouldn't be that hectic.
It is a 30000sq foot warehouse.
Even if you went at the end of the day, you'll probably get in for $50 and walk out with afew jackets and what not.
