I looked at a ZX7R I found locally today, It has been sitting for a while & has been neglected a bit before it was sitting by the look of it but the price is not too bad to get me started + it is local so that means less stuffing round to get started
Just hope it is not too far gone? Is there any real problem areas to look at when checking out the early ZX7R's? Are the gearbox's prone to problems? I should maybe give it a quick squirt just to make sure all the gears are good?
Runs OK & the fairings are pretty well stuffed so its a good start for what I need
depending on how good the price is look at carbs they tend to seize up if sat for to long
Ah.....I see mate...
I thought you had to wait til ya sight was going to think a burgerking was a good looking boik

Looks like I might have a bit of a ZX7R project to pick up on Friday hopefully? It needs a good tidy up but I will enjoy getting to know the bike as I go along anyway, It will be naked pretty quickly because the fairing is fairly buggered anyway, Hopefully I will have some pics on the weekend after I give it a quick clean up & see what needs to be done, If anyone has any parts laying round that you think I may need let me know what you have & how much?
Thanks for all the welcome's & help so far
This will help me out a bit too>

Anyone looking for the earlier ZXR manual here ya go>
http://www.manualedereparatie.info/e...ce-manual.html
Im sure they have probably been shared here before but they will help someone else out
Turns out the 97 ZX7R Bike I was looking at buying is actually a 94 ZXR750 which I dont mind cause for some reason I actually like the earlier models better
I was checking out this site/page (below) & im guessing it is a ZXR 750 L2, Would that be correct?

Considering it is now in my shed & can anyone tell me the ins & outs (good & bad) of this model
I have turfed the fairing & started cleaning it & removing the crap paint from the wheels, Needs a few odds & ends & a good tune up but Im happy to have the bike I have always wanted even know it needs some work
I will start with all the basics, Plugs, fuel filters oil change etc etc then look at the carbs & see what I can sort out? It seems like it may have a leak on the intake, Im thinking maybe the carb rubber mounts are stuffed? It does not seem to drop the revs real quick, May also be some jets blocked in the carbs?
I will have to start a build thread when I get it tidied up a bit more
i clean mine every 12 months because they have a habit of blocking up a bit no matter what filters i seem to use make sure you clean the emolshen tubes real good makes a shit load of difference .
Well done on your purchase. Can't go wrong with the old ZXR. If you need any bits and pieces, let me know. I have a box full of stuff I took off mine.
Keep your eyes open for a 9 motor. best mod ever
Get some pics up.
Cheers, Jed
