Apologies for that outburst. I was having a somewhat frustrating time re-fitting the sump, with a gasket that preferred the feel of the open air.

What I had forgotten was that the engine fits rather tight at the front, and the sump only slides into position by easing it in from the rear (ooh matron!). Which is all fine and dandy until you have a gasket sitting precariously in place atop the sump... all sorted no though, and I celebrated by polishing some more bits (crankcase breather cap, and footpeg tips) and painting the breather tank, pics of that soon ;-)

    Subtle Si, very subtle!
    Okay, if you insist...
So, the oil gate was being transferred into the 'good' original sump (complete with now irrelevant oil level sender).
Hole drilled and finning relieved on underside so that the allen-headed bolt would sit flush.

And the gate bolted into place, in the correct orientation this time!

So time to offer it up and see if the sump would fit...

    ...errr, no.
You can just about see the mark where the body of the pressure relief valve was hitting the nut holding the gate in place...

Hello Mr Grinder? Are you available for a few minutes?...

Enough clearance created and the circlip that holds the spring in place can still be fitted.

And, in the meantime, the turbo oil tank, breather tank, and crankcase breather cap all had fittings welded into place by a Man That Can (Thank you Mr Dave Dunlop of FBM turbo systems)

The two tanks will be painted black, and the cap polished.

Parts painted, and fitted, and a kick in the teeth as the oil tank doesn't fit any more thanks to the oil return fitting hitting a frame rail. Arse.
This, is combination with an imminent house move, apparent further chain clearance issues, and the need to buy new tyres for the Zed when I have no cash means there's little (ie zero) chance of it being done in time for the TT.

Yes, "Arse" does seem like the correct word here. What you moving again for? Found somewhere colder?

That's a shame mate, guess all good things take time. Good luck on the move.

Closer to work for her indoors, and makes more sense to spend money on a mortgage than on renting. It's even closer to Cadwell Park and, joy of joys, it has a double garage and additional workshop space! Clouds and silver linings and all that...

And the new garage, at last some space! But first it needs the walls painted white, and the floor painted too, then some racking / shelving put in place, and some decent lights instead of just two, and some electric sockets (again, instead of just two), and my work bench and storage cabinets need to be picked up from the old 'Shed of Dread', 130 miles away, and moved into this, already christened 'The Time Sponge'...

Ha! Sounds great. Shame it looks like a Photobucket announcement banner though. Screw you Photobucket, promise so much and then take it away...
