Painting Questions ?????

What's the best way to go about when painting more than one colour - As in the image below? What the rule. Dark first etc.

Taking a stab in the dark here mate, but i'm gonna assume lighter color's first. Solely for the reason that ive found its harder to paint lighter color's over dark color's such as Black, without having to do multiple coats. It seems to take a lot more paint to get the coverage.

as Mish said lite colour 1st ,let the 1st base coat dry off then ,use a FINE line tape, then mask it off cover were you dont want the dark colour and go from there ,also,a couple of good coats of clear over the top of both colours
