    well, they just turned up
shall check that footpegs fit tonight (it says they are off an '06)

im not happy with the aftersales service, for me to have to ring up so many times
and have to leave my details EVERY time indicates that they didnt give a rats arse about me once i had given them my money

only reason they sorted it out is probably cos the last time i rang them they had a slow day and could do it straight away before they forgot!

Hey fimpy - next time try the chinese water torture trick - Call them and ask if its in the mail. If they say no say you will call back in an hour or so to check if its done. Repeat until they send the stuff to you - or they mail you a dog turd. Usually works well

alrighty then, FINALLY got around to playing with this last night

swapped the old burnt-birdnest out for the new loom

went pretty well, apart from the following un-known connections
was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit (given that a lot of old suzi's would have shared electrical components)

    so here they are...

sorry the colours arent too clear, can check them out tonight and will post in morning

    anyone recognise anything?

ps- She passed her course last weekend, now just has to do the theory test and pay some $$ and she'll have her license. plan is to get it running, tape a seat onto it and then through it in the ute and head to an industrial area

Have you found yourself a new woman there Fimp?

Sorry mate, can't see enough to tell, but that bottom one is gonna bug me all day, I just know I should know that one at least.

PS the Suzuki's do run a couple of spare connectors on their looms, check the fuse panel, you can plug accessories into it. I think that last one is one of them tbh

i have a spare blue connector up there and i assume thats what its for....

oh yeah, and that bottom one

gonna see if the same dude i bought the loom off has a fuse-box too
(given the price of the loom i dont see how the fusebox would be more than 10 bucks!!!)

so here is what you get for $50
    front fairing in good knick
    headlight
    aluminium fairing bracket
    gauges in good cond.
a whole loom in VERY GOOD condition
rear brake switch (i needed one of these)
battery box (no lid, but i needed one anyways)
    rear seat
air box, or most of it anyways

and a few other odds and ends, he just wanted to offload it all so....

    oh, another thing
    got my wiring diagram!!!!! hurrah
turns out there is only one fuse on the whole bike, so no need to track down a fusebox after all

oh and i made a knob of myself trying to get an oil filter for it at the local bike shop
turns out they dont have em [:I]

but on to the other stuff that has been happening (other than an oil change and bleeding the rear brakes on the weekend, thanks to anne for helping out!)

i have been working on models for the tailpiece the last few nights

    going for something like this...

the "slices" shown were done in 20mm thickness
went down and bought some poly-somethingorother foam this morning

got it in 12mm, heap of it for only 10 bucks

pretty happy, cos some of the resolution on the curves wasnt working too well with the 20mm slices

so now its just a matter of going through and rearranging them to be 12mm thick (and obviously adding a few)

at last count there was 55 or so
but the foam will cut with a knife so it wont take too long to make the profiles

but first im going to do up a proper detailed dummy of the chassis with all the mounting points and everything, cos i wont be able to test-fit the foam plug to the bike before we glass it

using little dowels down the middle to hold it all together

its REALLY bombing out my laptop/notebook doing this
trying to use a technique called "master sketching" where the tail piece shape is brought in as a derived part to each slice, then the first sketch is what makes the slice

then extrude the profile from the back, cutting off anything that isnt on that plane
then i spin it around and do the same from the front (in reference to how it sits on the bike)

then i make it solid up the guts, allowing 15mm cos i want to make a nice lip to sit the seat "into" once its sorted

really looking forward to getting to the cutting foam stage
Annes a bit of a craft-nut and she is willing to overcome her "foam-a-phobia" in order to help get an awesome looking bike

    keep u updated

At least he never went looking for a fuel filter on an LPG ute...[:I]

nice work fimp - i'm going to do mine another way but similar. orthographic projections of the tail but use surface tools as mines going to be a fair bit more swoopy. hopefully starting this weekend but need to do subframe and triples first.

i saw a great video with solidworks where yeah make a razor habdle thingy
    very fancy

thought i'd keep the shape kinda basic on this first one, gradual curves past the inner thighs and a few flat bits towards the end

the seat-base will probably be trickier (but indend to pretty much just lay that up in-place so i get it all spot-on with the latches etc)

got the rest of the slices done up last night, hoping to get a good chassis dummy sorted tonight and also add top and rear photos so i can check those line out too
