    My other toy

This is my other toy - a '88 FZR750 that I race in the pre'89 class here in NZ.

It's great fun, and safer than doing it on the street.

Here's the ol' fat bloke (me) waiting to have another go.

I currently race in the North Island at three tracks:
Pukekohe: which has had the Aussis V8 meeting for the last few years

Taupo: has just been extended a year or two back and hosts the A1 GP

and Manfield which used to have the World Superbikes racing there in the early days way back in the late '80s.

We also have the Hampton Downs curcuit being built at the moment, and they have just recieved approval from WSB to apply for a round from 2010 on. If this happens, there is a possibility the the NZ Post Classic Racing Association may be asked to provide support races in a similar mannor to the Aussie round, and if this goes ahead then I'll be closely involved with preparing and crewing on a factory H2R Kawasaki.

The two main street circuits are the Wanganui Cemetery Circuit and the Paeroa Street races.

I raced Paeroa in '97 on a GPZ1100 which was a buzz, but once was enough for me.

Track days are quite regular and the Pukekohe Circuit has them listed on their site:
    http://www.countiesracing.co.nz/modu...e=Motor_Racing

Let me know when your coming over as it won't be too hard to get a few blokes together for a bit of fun at the track.

Not really, we got a heap of jap imports (these arn't the OW01, just the std FZR's)and they are still quite inexpensive, $2500 upward will get you a tidy one. I've got an EXUP 1000 motor on the bench for next season as the 7/11 GSXR's tend to piss off into the distance.

Yeah, that was my first effort at painting, I've just finished a Barry Sheene replica paint job on one of the 7/11's, I'll try and get some photo's before the rider falls off it again.

Looks like a nice ride! I race with the Post Classic Racing Association here in NSW, in a pre 1996 class on a YZF600. Plenty of YZF750's around here, not many ol FZR's.
Looks like NZ racing is going good, with so many tracks in a small island, in NSW we have 3, and one is closing end of this year...
    Any action shots?

I'll have a look for some action shots today, but in the mean time have a look at our post classic web site:

    www.nzpostclassics.org.nz

The whole post classic scene is very strong in NZ (even if we did get our butts kicked by you aussies at the Phillip Island Classic meet in January), and there are a lot of new race bikes being built up which should be on the track later this year.

The very first race meeting at Pukekohe Raceway, South Auckland, coming over the hill onto the front strait.
