Azzopardi has the wheel a long way up for a barred bike. What would be the advantage of having the bars set so high?

It's all to do with inertia & drive.
All the Top Bikes carry the front about the same height only some carry it further then others.
I know that if i play around with the bar height on my Kwaka it does make a BIG difference.
My optimum setting is to carry the front wheel about 80mm off the deck for maximum drive out of the whole.
Oh & the most important thing, the higher the front wheel, the better the pic's.

    To answer Bullfrogs question,
As the slick grows , if the bars are hard on the ground the front airgap grows too
