    Best i say 'Ello then?????

G'day one and all, thought i'd better do the honourable thing and register on here as the Bird (Sonicbird) is getting all the attention!!!! Can't have that!!
Mainly into Chops, Fuggin hate Harleys, and appreciate the engineering on Streetfighters, done a few in UK but most of my work was Trikes and Chops.
Got a Z650 Chop which is slowly getting sorted for the engineer, building a VT1100 Hardtail at the minute, gotta be a hardtail as i love these smooth roads, and hate my spine
Pic below is a ZX10 engined 'fighter, Hornet tank, one off frame, one off stainless exhaust, i'd built it to bring to OZ but got the arse with it so sold it!!

    That's me,

    Catchya.[8D]

I take it you slipped in the back wheel for the photo, or to move it maybe, but you'll be needing a locknut on that rear axle......!!! Yeah I know it's not finished.[and sold]

Yea, welcome aboard mate. Are you that illusive Spondon-esque frame builder we have been waiting to find in Aus? You'll have a lot of interest if you are.

I guess being from England you very familiar with Spondon frames. The tubing you used in the photo above looks very similar:

What would something like that cost the guy on the street if you were to make one to the same specs mate?

  13. #13
The Tube on the ZX10 is steel, The Mighty Spondon use ali.

I would say in Polished Ali you'd be looking at around $10,000.00 and in steel around $6,000.00

All frames are ADR compliant, unless you specifically ask for a mental non-compliant frame, then on your head be it!!!

So pretty much the same as Spondon rates but without the shipping fee. Fair enough Shaun. What about a Single sided Swingarm like the last one? I guess you'd need one to work from wouldn't you?

Wouldn't necessarily need one to copy, could make one so long as i had the bike, shock and linkage to measure from etc.
    Price wise, around $2500+

    Cheers

    Interesting reading!!!
Makes me laugh when people make Frame building and welding sound so easy....just wonder where i'm going wrong!!!!

But surely if it was that easy they'd all be knocking out frames???

Streetfighter frames WAS not the direction i was planning on going, but as we're in the process of getting set up to make frames, Ali panels, Ali tanks etc i reckon it may be a market worth looking at!!

And as the Bird has not stopped bleating on about "when ae you going to build me a Streetfighter" (repeat 60 times daily) I reckon it'll have to be a new frame for her Bike just to show people what i can do!!!!!

    Cheers all.

Mate, there's nothing better than a show case Streetfighter to get people's attention. Get to it mate and I'll seriously consider something based on the result.
