if you break the bottle on the first go, you'll just have to drink some more.

I use hollow core diamond drills with a water chuck/drill press.Fill it with water or sand as LL suggested, wack the lid on if possible to help pressure.Tilt the bottle on a slight angle before penetrating internal surface to prevent implosion, and use light pressure.Finish the whole with an arrissed edge on both surfaces using a bit of 120 wet n dry on a 45 degree angle to help prevent cracking. A glass n tile spear point drill bit can also be used but takes a bit longer an lower success rate,Keep It Wet.

If you know anyone with a bead blaster like at a mechanics/auto elecs shop then they put nice holes in glass bottles, after trying lots of times with a drill bit when I was younger to put a drinking straw about half way up the side of a sambucca bottle I tried it with the bead blaster at work and beautiful you can even put a little hole on the other side of the bottle that you can control with your thumb so you can drink it faster or slower, wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean
