    Starting a Streetfighter

    Hi Guys

I am a rider from perth and own a 85' gsxr750 - I am looking at turning it into a streetfighter and just wondering if anyone has some advice for an amateur such as myself - I am just looking at the body side of things at the moment and work on the engine later on, any help would be great

take the fairings off and sell em, then buy some risers and fat bars, drill the top clamp to suit the bars and risers, reroute your cables and wiring so they reach the bars and they will reach, then find some sort of headlights you like. simple as that for a start.

    Good bike to start with.
Must be the lightest of all the 750/1100 frames.
Might not be the best handling but will keep things "interesting".
Think the bike that won "Best Streetfighter 2005" in the UK was
originaly an early 750 Slabsider so the sky's the limit.

The sky's REALLY is the limit on a bike like this....
USD fronts, GSXR11 / Bandit 12 engines, loads of stuff from the
    later Suzuki's can be used.

One of the few downsides to an early slabsider (Apart from the
skinny frame ) is that the rear sub-frame is welded on. Nothing
to stress over, but if you ever want to get a bit radical, its out with the grinder and weld some lugs on for a new subbie.

    I had an '86 1100 a while back as a run-about.
    Similar bike, Great fun [8D]

Twin headlamps,MX bars, barend mirrors, shorty can, the options are endless, but at the end of the day it's got to be what you want, not what everyone else has said you need.

    Love the Flymo Tony!

    Welcome mate.
Luke found a nice slab side earlier:

Find a few pictures of what you want to do and go for it. As Oz and Davo already said, bin the fairings mate. You can keep the headlight frame and lights mounted and then just get some risers bolted into your top triple clamp with some MX bars and you're on your way to streetfighter land.

Show us your bike mate. Stick a picture up.
