Peak power is about the same as the bandit (these figures are a few years old so might not apply for the latest models) at 98HP. What sold me on the 1400 was that the power kicks in low in the rev range, making it more accessible.

    Mmmm...
    Nice and Grunty.
A Bandit would be well down on torque but will make as much as
115 / 117 bhp with a good can on a stock motor. Cheap Power.

What I was getting at was you dont get much for you Money
when you add the cost of a pipe and Powercommander together
(plus dyno time) and divide it by the gained horsepower.

Chucked my Bus (with just can's) on the Dyno after a similar bike
with full system and powercommander, he pulled about 2 bhp over me,
with very little differance in the graph curve.
Them's a couple of real expensive ponies

Yeah, heard the same things about Cans / Filters /
Powercommanders / TRE's / etc on Busa's. Not sure if
they do "feel" different or if spending that sort of
money is a Placebo that things WILL be better

2 yoshi Cans and a TRE did nothing to my bike other than
the normal weight loss, bling gain and nice sound.
I thought the standard injection / Brain on a modern fuel
injected bike would be more than capable of coping with
a change of exhaust, filters etc. Making the Powercommander
    both expensive and unnessesary ?

My thoughts are that a pipe really is a necessity for these machines. The stocko is way too quite. If the bike performs well enough after the pipe and filter are fitted then that's all well and good. If flat spots appear in the rev range though then something like the power commander might be needed to smoothen out power delivery more so than just increase power output. Not sure if the 1400s are prone to flat spots though once you start changing pipes etc.

Nice 1400 - I was speaking to someone a while ago who said the biggest issue with em is that they dont produce HP after midrange.

Apparantly there are cam kits and other maps which basically give it teh power character of a bandit but with more meaty torque. Thats what it needs.
