What material did you use for handle?
Do you mind if I steal your idea?
And some more half arsed engineering.
I needed a way to get the air that came through the rad away from teh bike instead of sitting under the tank. The fan just blew hot air over the engine and under the tank/airbox. i saw an air conditioning grille when we were doing some demo at work, and had a light bulb moment. Maybe.
So i cut a strip off, folded the top edge down, and wedged it against the fans. Turn teh fans on, and it blows air out the side like i hoped. All to the right side of the bike at the moment, I'll cut another strip so i have 2 halves, one facing left and one facing right.
It helps get heat away from the bike, and keeps any loose wires away from the backs of the fans. Win.

It was a toggle for some furniture i think. it had a bolt embedded in the plastic handle so you could tighten/loosen it as you adjusted the...whatever it was. I just dremeled the bolt out, and siliconed the shortened key in. If i have another one you can have it. Wouldn't trust the ignition key left in the bike, but the pillion seat doesn't worry me.
A large hex bolt head would do the same thing.

perfect, yeah i have the same issue with different key for my pillion seat
You got some pretty good ideas working there Hooligan. The fuel cap looks great. Those air vents are very creative.
Your bike is one sweet thing mate.

Since the bike is jacked up a little higher than a standard Vfr, the side stand is a little short. I have had a cbr one in the garage for a little while to put on.
I wished id put it on earlier.
It tipped off the side stand earlier today and punched a hole in the fuel tank. I watched 18L of premium piss out the bottom corner of the tank. i'm on the hunt for a 98-01 Vfr 800 tank, or the later gen 2002 vtec tank that fits with just a little bit of work.

That eats big black dildos man.
Hope you get a tank asap for the right price.
That is beyond arse..... don't forget about por 15 tank repair
fucking ouch mate damn, hate it when bikes get sleepy & need a lay down, never a cheap sleep ...
grills behind fans is a sweet idea too
Mate that sucks a big one. Really hope you sort out a new tank quickly.

Bugger. You're too bloody tall mate!
yer that is the fken pits man, hope you find one soon. 2002 one on gumtree but is in QLD ? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/kirwa...rds/1133210141
Shit, that's not local. Up in Townsville otherwise would have been happy to help collect.
That's a bit cheaper than the $250 for the 2004 tank that's at my local wreckers.
I'll be using a later model 800 (2002+ VTEC) tank. Holds an extra litre or so, and is a direct fit except for needing a scpacer for the rear mounts. And looks a little better on a naked one.

The CBR side stand needs a funky shaped spacer to be able to fit the VFR. Since it would take me 3 days with hand tools, i scammed measurements off the net, and went to Bens. It's not quite a turbo but he saved me 3 days worth of swearing.
I'll still have to do some hand filing to get the angle right for the stupid VFR rearsets, but I'm awesome with a dremel.
And I have the later gen tank and a duke 390 lower radiator spoiler to put around my oil cooler in my garage to make brackets for and fit up.

That looks like the key ring for ZZ Top's rod in the Sharp Dressed Man video!
If I had a dollar for every time I thought about you, I'd start thinking about you
well, every girls crazy for one.
Side stand is on, much more betterer. Its also about 400g lighter than the vfr steel one.
It took about 2 hours to undo 2 bolts.
And lots of degreaser. and penetrating oil. and a cut down allen key. And a 1m long bit of tube as a breaker bar with a piece of threaded rod stuffed inside the tube so it wouldn't just bend.
It was a messy break up.
