    Six second challenge part 2 b

    After sitting on this thing (figuratively) for over a year, cos I couldn't bring
    myself to destroy a really nice little motor (see for sale, GSX 1428 drag motor),
    I've gotten on the turbo busa bandwagon and bought a slug last week.
    Contrary to convention, I can't blame Jacktar.
    Instead I'm blaming Greg Booster and turbo 750 Mick.
    Why the chop/change?
    Billet crank with white metal bearings more applicable for this application, I believe.









    Please excuse pigsty shed, it's a two car garage with 5 bikes, two businesses, repair bench, and 25 odd years of hoarded shit in it.
    Yes, it annoys the fuck out of me.

    LL- Well, I did say 25 years of hoarded shit : )

    And sometimes for dumb wiretwitchers.
    I'm surprised there's not some in TB already.( maybe not such a beaten path)
    Best could hope for is 6.6 I reckon, as it comes out about same power
    to weight as Nitro V2.
    6.99 is fine by me.

    'Blaming' Greg for turbo busa theme, Mick 750 for methanol theme.
    list of jobs: pistons, rods, spacer gasket, clutch, gearbox, output shaft, offset gear change, mount motor, make exhaust, b.o.v.and regs, plenum and plumbing, injectors, fuel pump and regs, ignition, fuel controller, and I'm sure there is some other 'little' jobs as well.
    Then tune and finally give it a run.
    Amongst track bike, dirt bike, Katana, young fella, gf, work and school. And probike. And house, vintage bike club and friends.
    ( wonder why I haven't finished last months accounts yet? fuck, it's the 12th already)

    edit: and low profile sump, and dry sump oil system.

    For those of us with a 10 second attention span, like myself.

    How fast did the bike go with a gsx moteur?
    How much power did the gsx moteur have?
    How much power do you reckon the busa moteur will have?
    For years and years racers have been saying the gsx is the best for big power because it has roller bearings(?) Now it's plain bearings?

    Large, you should drag race, only need to concentrate for about 7-8 seconds, haha.
    Did a 8.42 at 155 with GSX. Nothing special really, was mainly as a base line to go on with.
    Head flow ( 127 cfm) sez it should've made 210 odd Hp.
    Power to weight calculator sez at 210 Hp. and weight it should have done a 8.55
    So it may have been doing a bit better than 210 Hp. (had to, actually, it's physics)
    Hopin the Busa ends up around 500 Hp, boosted.
    Greg makes that sorta power, and others 'allegedly' more, and its a 600 Hp turbo.
    Greg I believe, and he was good enough to let me have a snort on one. It was definately makin snot.
    I've got half an idea of fast, and all I could do was shake my head whilst laughing manicly. Unbelievable!
    That's why I'm blaming him for the turbo busa deal.
    Others? Some tend to color in that sort of stuff. Like dick size, isn't it?
    Dunno about what other racers reckon, but doing a 'post mortem' when my probike broke the crank,
    I reckon its due to case/crank flex and welded segments in the crank 'failing'. I'm steering away from it.
    200 Hp, last all day, good thing. Over 300 Hp, replace crank every 40 runs. 500 Hp? Bang?
    They were made for 115 Hp in the day.
    At big power, I'm thinking rollers may tend to be a bit like icepicks or ball peen hammers.
    I see metal bearings as higher surface area to share the load. But also never allowed to have a oil surge 'event'
    which drag motors try and give by pushing all the oil to the back of the motor. Instant death.
    I come up with this theory myself, and have been known to have shit hung on me. (shrugs shoulders, fuck'em)
    I'm an electronics tech, not a mechanic, but I do 'analyse' stuff, and I hate blowing good shit up.
    I also reckon that if the man in Japan thought they were the go, he'd probaqbly still be using them.
    I'm also open to alternative ideas/theories/suggestions.

    I knew that busas can make big numbers, but I thought you would be closer to 300hp with a "30lb tailwind" pushing the gsx along.

    Never got turbo on GSX to know
    Naturally aspirated was 210 Hp/ 8.42.
    15 psi shouldve been around 400 Hp
    25 psi about 500 Hp?
    Wasn't brave enough to try.
    Hope this isn't a sacrifical busa, but shit happens when you pull the string tight.
