Fish's Bandit
Well the finance is finally up and we've got another car, so this is no longer the daily ride. It's time to start chopping.
This is what I'm starting with, there's been a few minor updates since this but they are irrelevant.

After many hours of photoshopping by my wife here is the gist of what it will look like. Bearing in mind finding photos of the right thing at the right angle is a pain in the arse we've done near as we can with some parts. Anyway here it is.

Currently parts collecting. Just got new rear shock and swinger to be modified. Both from a gen one busa. I've seen the busa swinger polished in a bandit in north qld and it was win. Also it's easier to get trick wheels for busa than bandit.

I hope you keep this up Mate, it should be very entertaining. Nice work.
-
I like the concept, look forward to seeing this :)
-
-
PAIR system off and de-lugging hopefully tomorrow. Be prepared for the slowest build ever. Will be good when done though, do it once do it right kind of concept.

-
Great work mate ......btw they are the biggest oggy knobs I have ever seem
-
Mate you'd be amazed how many people ask me if they are oil filters.
-
I must admit I had to look twice I thought they were some sort of aftermarket filter to start with
-
Started on the seat last night. Peeled the cover and the foam off to cut the base down.

Test fit.

What you need to cut the foam. Especially the bourbon.

How It looks on the bike.

Little fella seems to like it.

I'm going to use original fittings to attach the seat. So take this bit off.
https://i.imgur.com/qA4DhTj.jpg
Then make a nice flat bit for it to sit on on your base. I used the dremmel to do this bit.
https://i.imgur.com/KKPd4rs.jpg
Make sure it fits.

Ran out of light so will update when I finish it.
-
Love it. Can't wait to see the end result. Even if I can't ride bitch any more.
-
-
No turning back now Brendan. Good on ya mate.
-
Hey Fish, looking good..you obviously never heard the expression "where angels fear to tread" go for it man you have a set of balls...looking forward to the finished bike
-
Nice man! Haven't heard from you in a while get my last pics? I got a few more if you want.. anyways have fun with the build, looks like a good concept
-
Hey Jordy, was just thinking of Chewy the other day. Pics would be great, I miss the little bugger. Morry I can't say I have heard that saying. I figure if I slow down then it'll be a shed ornament. Si I just about shit myself the first time the grinder touched but bloody glad I did it. Like you said, No turning back now. :D It's going to be a steep learning curve tough seeing as this is my first proper full on fighter build.
-
Ok, so here's me being a big nerd. The bike now has a name... "Gauntlet". I'm a warhammer 40k nerd and after reading heaps of Dan Abnett's work found the Gaunts Ghosts series. Need less to say I fucking LOVED it! Brilliant read and anyone who's even remotely interested in Sci-fi or Warhammer should read it. So the idea is to build the bike as the main character's (Colonel-Commisar Ibram Gaunt) personal bike. I wrote to Dan Abnett telling him what I was doing and he rekons it's cool, so keep and eye here for more nerdy updates.
-
Naming your bike after a droopy glove cuff?
-
Na, not droopies. More like a couple of stiffies like these.

-
Good stuff Brendan and good to see you got in here mate
-
Thanks Rod, yeah for some reason I just wasn't receiving the emails. I just put it down to teething problems, Si was on the case pretty quick and got me sorted. Big thumbs up to all involved in this MAMMOTH task, would be good to see more thanks for these guys instead of whinging though.

-
awesome work Brendanfish!
-
'sit busas swinger Brendan?
-
-
Im interested to know whats involed with the Busa arm.
I have a Gen1 arm spare but have also been looking at
a Busa wheel in a Bandit arm on Ebay.
Busa arm looks beefy but its heavy!
Will watch this with interest Mate.
-
Yeah I've been slack. I'll get onto it in the next few weeks. Thanks for the motivation fellas.
-
could u wegh the bloody swinger fish?
-
Ok, been playing with the tail. Here it is at full length. Took about 100mm out of it.
https://i.imgur.com/1FlokaZ.jpg
Get the cut off bit in position and add expander foam to hold it. Add more to sides to fill the gap and sculpt.
https://i.imgur.com/n3QIVqq.jpg
More sculpting
https://i.imgur.com/9TZQQ3O.jpg
You need a good eye to get the lines to match up.
https://i.imgur.com/Z3wySIT.jpg
I don't have a very good eye, so Mrs Fish the artist of the house came to my rescue.
https://i.imgur.com/p7ptkBo.jpg
Once foam is sculpted, add body filler.
https://i.imgur.com/f9fH31J.jpg
Be aware that this shit goes off pretty fucking quick... as in by the time you have it mixed to a "uniform colour".
https://i.imgur.com/pGMai2d.jpg
More filler on.
https://i.imgur.com/x20xsCZ.jpg
From the back.

So here's how she stands at the moment. The bandit swinger et al. is out. Need to take a little off the busa swingarm to fit it in as well as machine up a few new spacers. The carbs and airbox are out to fit the busa shock and are also awaiting the mikuni RS40s and associated pod filters. The tail section is requiring more filling and sanding etc then a mold will be made for to be making the new tail section.

Peace out
-
wat r u going to do where the seat foam finishs???
-
i reckon you should make a ducati monster-esqu seat cover for the back of it.
-
Totally new seat unit. I'll be getting in touch with Kev when the time comes.
-
On ya fisho, coming along nice.
