Been relocating the battery in between the frame and making an under tray for the subframe. Tail tidy arrived from the ole US of A and a few other bits and bobs coming.
Piccys to come when I get a few mins
Which tail tidy did you end up going with?
I am using the 03/04 zx6r unit with tail tidy with led's i'll post some piccys soon....sold the monster seat and cowl .
I think I know the direction i am going in for the moment.
it may all change again.....
By the way I got my LSL/Mt03 type unit from italy I got mine including postage for around $100 me thinx I would have to check to see if I can remember the seller on e bay.. if you are interested.
Was the tail tidy from the US seller I linked or?
I dont mind the headlight setup ( MT03 / LSL ) but they are getting way overdone + I just upgraded my dirtbike polisport MMX headlight with an Hi/Lo LED cree bulb that dropped straight in & made it way brighter
Some pics please......

anyone know where I can get some Inspiration to continue the build.
Been searching the ole Interweb for months now and cant seem to find any....
Where do you boys buy yours??
Fuck I need some cash and time in the shed... ....
Better get her back on the road soon. I really want to be riding her for her 21st birthday celebrations
What have you got left to do? Make a list, It will either scare you or keep you going as you cross them off, Keep the list on the fridge?
Inspiration, I know what you mean though I only have a few things left to do on my ZXR but I hate cold weather & going in the shed at night is not going to happen, I generally dont get much time during the day even though I am on call with my work
Having plenty of money to spend on it would be a great inspiration but everyday bills fix that
Should be something inspiring in this link?>

Thanx ninjainoz,
the dreaded list is the go........paper and pen out and start scribbling.
If the feckin list gets too long I may just throw the towel in.
Some fuckin sweet gixxer units in that link....drooooool.......
wheres me hammer I'm off to the shed
With very little time due to work or family or other projects I try to get one thing a week done but even that can be hard sometimes
A big whiteboard in the shed would be good too, You couldnt lose it & it would be easy to see/read whever you go in the shed
What are some of the main things you need to tackle?
yeah mate I get ya.. Family and work/oncall have all my time at the mo been a feckin hectic last eight months with some family dramas...but hopefully they are nearly sorted now for the moment.
I may get an hour to myself tonight so pen and paper...... and the list will be drawn up
Like most projects I am getting to the end where the big stuff is sorted and all the lil bits will pull it all together.........but it just seems like there is no end to all the lil bits.
This is about where I am at with my build mate, kids, work, other hobbies, family shit all get in the way. My bike is still a way off mainly due to the fact that I seem to keep getting more bits for it..... If I committed myself I could probably have it in a rideable state in a day, I just keep telling myself 'you can't rush these things' hahahaha
Well finally started again. Trying to get the zx6r seat pad to fit snugly up against the gsxr tank.......

Any tips for a 1st time upholsterer on which vinyl is easiest to stretch neatly over the seat???
Drop into a auto upholsterer and buy a bit of what you like , any decent bloke will prob give you a bit for bugger all. Its only around $25 a M for most run of the mill stuff. Forget crap from clothing stores like spotlight , its thinner and generally crap (though stretches easy on fitting). The shape of your seat will allow you to use one piece to cover the lot without sewing/joins.
Material has a weft and wafte (stretches one way alot more than the other) run the stretchy direction accross the seat. A air or electric stapler with 5 or 6mm deep staples or in a pinch a good hand stapler will do the trick but make it a real pain. With the air stapler (if you have one) air pressure just high enough to drive the hammer reliably and hold the stapler at a slight angle (from one side of staple pin to the other) stops staples driving right through vinyl making a mess.
Gental heat from Heat gun/hair dryer can help gettting vinyl around curves without putting to much tension on foam distorting it.
Or send it to Kev and get him to do it for you, I don't do seat work anymore.
Cheers,
Popped into clark rubber they have marine uv stabilised vinyl for bout $23 a meter. I have an electric stapler and a heat gun ready so hopefully will try it during the week. I'll give it a go and if I fuck it up I will go grovelling to Kev. trying to do most sh1t myself and keep the $$$$ for beer.
Trick with one piece stuff is even pressure. Start with the length wise ends just enough tension to keep it all sitting straight, no sags or wrinkels. Dont try to pull it hard enough to sit on the foam as it will just flex the seat foam/base. Then work eather side in the middle faning out in a circular pattern. Keeping tension even as possable a little heat in places that form wrinkels helps a little, spray contact adhesive (I like bostic stuff in a can for little jobs) can make your life real easy, if your uneasy being a first time you can get partial tack adhesive (you can fit it and if its not in the right position pull it off and replace it without wreaking the foam)
Little old ladys use the partial tack stuff for quilting , spotlite or other sewing joints will stock it.
Spray foam and inside of vinyl , let tack off. Then lay vinyl down with a smooth action rolling it on from on end to the other lengthwise, then turn over and put on a clean bench put pressure in centre of seat base and stretch vinyl onto sides. You will still need to stretch to staple but its a good way to get a one piece vinyl on.
Seats upholstered...Kinda happy may do the drivers again..some puckering but not too bad for a virgin

Anyone got any ideas on what product/compound to use when using stainless steel bolts on aluminium to avoid corrosion/reaction caused between two dissimilar metals?
or will it even be an issue.
Duralac works but is a fuckin messy product
After much procrastination about how to fit the fuse box, black box and operate the pillion seat lock (sorted with the help of an old set of shimano brakes off the pushie) got the sub frame finally fitted and painted . Me thinx the black subbie goes well with the black swinger.
