G'day mate. there what sort of riding are you looking at doing, two groups do a night ride on wednesdays and thursdays and another that dose a ride on sunday mornings, they are a little more serious and can so some big rides in a day.

i occasionaly do track days at the drag strip, for fast runs and stunting but they are not regular

Plus I keep thinking that I am going to sell it but I never get around to it and then I decide that I am going to do more work on it and never do. It is a viscous circle. I should have the new shed up by mid March then I will at least have somewhere to work on it. It still really needs USD forks and the tail unit needs work. I am a bit over the matt black at the moment as well but I am not too sure what to do with it.

i now have an srad that is marked for the fighter treatment, but first i have to get it through a wovr inspection, not to much to that but money is a bit tight at the moment. just need a fairing (right front lower) and paint job (once i get the fairing) and it is ready to go.

it will be getting an 03 R1 tail unit once it is registered. :-)

nelpd96
04-02-2010, 08:06 PM
Clive you shouldn't need any fairing because when I did mine it didn't have any on it. Are you taking it through Manheim Fowles on Ingham road?

03gixxerpilot
05-02-2010, 03:34 AM
yes i will be doing that

i thought you had to have it back to orignal to get it though

scotty mac
05-02-2010, 08:08 AM
you don't need fairings to pass a roadworthy, jus can't have any brackets/sharp edges facing forward. it also won't pass if he fairing is cracked or broken.

03gixxerpilot
05-02-2010, 10:18 AM
not talking about roadworthy, that part is easy as, it is just the WOVR the i am worried about.

nelpd96
05-02-2010, 11:59 AM
Nope doesn't need to be back to factory. They are only checking to make sure that it isn't put together with stolen parts. IF you read the fine print they will tell you that it doesn't even certify the repairs as safe. I think when I did mine it was $300 but I certainly didn't have any fairings on it and on a couple of parts I just dowled them back together and put a bit of metal putty to fill gaps and painted it up.

For you townsville lads. My bike needs someone to look at the wiring under my dash (get rid of it ) any ideas on good auto elecs for bikes. Do you know much about RHD in Aitkenvale. He is a trumpy specialist i think.

03gixxerpilot
06-02-2010, 08:57 PM
RHD is an harly/european specilist, mostly into crusiers etc, they do a lot of hidden wiring on harleys etc,

used to work for Bruce as a mechanic at ormsnell when he was workshop manager there, and also work for him on occasions at RHD.

yeah cheers, i notice there isn't a massive scene up here, in saying that you still see plenty of bikes getting around...

i've hit up mt stuart a few times, not the best surface and a shit load of blind corners, but you recogn herveys and paluma ranges are worth checking out ansen?

Ansen
18-07-2010, 09:39 PM
yeh if you keep goin up herveys range road over the mountain past the tea house turn off is ok but make sure you got enough fuel as no more servos past the dump, theres fuk all cars or filf so you can really flog it.

there is a servo though its a bout 150k in and i never wanna risk them not havin any fuel lol so i usually turn back at the dirt track which goes up to paluma the back way. or the battery,

going up to paluma via the bruce is ok though usually filth and cars all up the mtn range and bit tight.

Paluma is a cunt of a road. Still jumping off the rocks at Upper Crystal is worth the gravel and fuckwits in cars tryign to kill you being on the wrong side of the road.

Hey guys. Just wondering where the best place is to get my streetfighter rwc? Also does anyone have a 180/55 17 tyre that would pass a rwc. Or even possibly a lh gsxr600 hand control and clutch lever mount/switch

Gday Guys,
Names Aaron, been up here for a while, i ride a k8 GSXR 750, not a street fighter, but the idea is there ;). Been up here for almost 2 years now, would love to get some sort of sports bike scene going up here. i read in the earlier posts about the weekday nights? are they still going on, as the posts were quiet some time ago.

03gixxerpilot
15-01-2012, 03:06 PM
G'day Aaron, to the best of my knowledge they are still going, but i am no sure what nights and where they leave form, if you head out on thursday night there is a group that rides that night, you might catch up with them.

There is a small group of us that go out to the drag strip on sunday arvos to learn stunting, put some fast passes down the track and do a few brunouts etc, you are more that welcome to come out and join in if you wish, there is no attitude and you dont have to ride if you dont want to, it is free entry and free to ride.

Cheers Clive

as of today we have lost the free use of the track, we were told that it is going to cost use $270 per bike per day for the use of bare track (ie just the track with nothing else) what a load of shit,
If they had said $250 or there abouts for the afternoon for the track then i would not be so put out, but you get that, they complain that the comunity dosn't support them and then wonder why.

Any way this weekend marty, lindsay and myself will discuss what we are going to do about it all, or even if we are going to try to work something out, i will let you all know the outcome either way.

cheers Clive

04-02-2012, 12:33 PM
unfortuanatly it will be developed, and there will be no more strip, and worse still i doubt that another will be built to replace it.

This means that basicly no motorsports facilitys for us anymore, meaning that driving/riding to McKay Charters Towers, or some where else.

beemae30
27-02-2012, 08:54 PM
Yeah, pretty standard practice. Motorsport venues promote "hooning" remember
