Sound isn't much good (but you can dub your favourite pirate band in after) but the picture quality is amazing from one of these-

Would be fun to pull a few of them apart.. the internals must be tiny. Could embed them anywhere you want.. chin-part of your helmet, front of your bike, etc.

Cool vid large, but what makes me laugh is why would someone post a video of the driving home from work it just advertises where their bike is at all times, it's not even in a garage at their house. So a quick 5 mins on google maps and street view and wow we have the whole route start to finish. The ride starts opposite Somewhere in Melbourne and finishes at somewhere else in melbourne. If your going to use camera's like this be a little smarter and don't film your daily trip home from work. People wonder how they were found out when they film themselves doing 200kmh down the hwy and film it.... oh well that's my 2 cents for this month... now back to playing with my toy...

1 minute of video at 720x480 30fps = 240Mb, so slightly over 4 minutes per Gb

If the resolution can be changed you'd be better to drop it to (at most) 320x240 24fps which will use 4.9Mb per minute, or about 3.5 hours per Gb

It'll look chunky on a high definition screen, but perfect for youtube etc IMHO

RED ZX
03-02-2010, 03:43 PM
why thank you sir. I hope you could change the size, but still if not, 64 mins of video is not too shabby at all, thats about the battery life before needing a charge anyway isnt it? Ebay site said about 1 hour record time, or 120hrs stand by IIRC

Post it on Youtube and then wait for it to show there. Once it does, view it and at the right hand of the screen it says URL with a text box next to it:

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1268109106.jpg

Copy that text and then come back here.

Click reply to topic that you want to post it in then click the YOUTUBE button:

Then paste your URL code from YouTube in the middle the two sets of youtube bracket boxes.

Hi guys, bought one of these cams but didnt come with a disc as described and the instructions are in flippin chinese, so im farked, anyone tell me what to do with the bloody thing, ie how to get it workin , what the buttons do etc?

plug it into your computer and see if it recognises it, Should come up with removable disk "k" or something (depending on how many disks you already have)

Leave it plugged in for a couple of hours to charge

If yours is the same as my one, the two front buttons are what runs it. Press and hold the "rear" front button until the light comes on (it will go off after a few seconds) The camera is now on. Press and hold the front button down untill the light starts to flash- you are now recording. To stop recording, press and hold the rear buttyon again (light will come on for a second or two, recording will stop and cam will turn off)

rinse and repeat

It shouldn't need any software to work correctly, its exactly the same principle as a USB storage stick, the computer just see's it as a memory card hooked up through USB.

I have got one that I chucked on the dirt bike. Works reasonable well but there is too much vibration in the mount for the camera. Much better with it on the side of the helmet. Just need to get a bigger card becaues the 2gb on does 30min of video.

HI Guys,

Just stumbled across this thread.
I discovered these little key chain cameras a while ago.
Absolutely awesome value and quite reasonable quality.
I have struggled in the past with a Hero cam. This little devices work so much better.

I just velcro them to various points on my race car and away you go.

Here is a link to some video from my car at Winton earlier in the year. There are others on YouTube also. Just search for JMW Winton.

My race car is powered by a GSXR 1100 which sounds sweet if I say so myself.

THe microphone is upset by wind when facing forward. Works realy well facing backwards and gives a different perspecive.

Peter.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/~pwstone
It is a little bit out of date.
I am always changes bits and pieces.
Engine started as a 1052J motor. Now 1196.
Some of the mods:
- modified head (std valves), modifed ports, modified chambers
- wiesco pistons
- CR = 13:1
- window ports added to base of block
- block skimmed to reduce deck heigth and improve squish
- 5 speed box (I did try a 6 speed but it broke)
- Standard clutch but heavier springs
- standard valve springs and cams (same as 750J cams)
- [A modified 750J head in preparation, hence looking for some other pistons]
- RS40 flatslide carbs
- custom exhaust

rod185651
23-08-2010, 09:05 PM
Nah mate, no disc just the camera and cable, They have instructions on the ebay item description, but it was pretty vague.
Where is the root of the MicroSD card?

To set the date/time of the device, which is used to timestamp media recordings, create a text file in the root of the MicroSD card with a file name of TAG.TXT. Open the file and add the following three lines:

[date]

2009/10/22

03:45:00

Replace the date and time above with the values you want. Save the file. Turn the device off, then back on to reset the clock based on the text file.

I'm thinking I might find some sort of bar clamp with a flat top and velcro it there, otherwise the only decent spot on my bike facing forward would be the fuel filler.

Hi Guys,

The velro mounting was what I used successfully on my race car.
Try a bit of Velcro on the padding inside your helmet.
With a bit of a playing around, you can get some good video through the visor. You can even give a running comentary as you go.

You can also mount it on the bars facing back at you.

Being so small you can mount them in some interesting spots and can get some really cool video.

Have fun.

Peter.
