Nice work Greg. It looks like it hooking up ok. So wheres the turbo?

Booster

Turbo is at JPC getting some work done :D
This will be getting the full treatment,
its a bit of a worry how easy it stands up on that wheelbase without any mods... think i will go longer with the turbo ;)
Not quite 8's for 8k but so far the cheapest 9 i have done at less than 4K as it sits (each sticker hides a hole in the fairing [:o)] and the tail is soldering iron repaired)

Hope to do around 2 secs quicker at about 4k a second

Hey Booster, looks like a lot of fun,re; the swingarm at what length does it just wheelspin and not hook up verses trying to reduce the front standing up..

Wicked, luving that pic :D:D:D

I was surprised a little by its standing up at that length/height (roughly 65" wheelbase), on an old shinko , and the cold track
some other runs were just wheelspin right through 1st
I think i will buy a copy of that one , Luke always seems to catch my lapses of judgment :D

Nice work Greg.

How hard are the landings on the short forks from that height?

Booster
08-07-2009, 10:15 PM
Landed softly a long way up the track, i punched second just about then and for a split second wondered if it was a wise move but was able to keep it pinned and it slowly came down,
most times on the turbo bikes that i do have to back off i can catch it with throttle on the way down and not smash it down.
Forks are std just strapped, checked my wheelbase and its 2" shorter than i thought at 63", too used to busa's being longer.

Back again
basic turbo kit fitted gt2871 with buggered exhaust wheel running 5 psi boost, std comp ,longer swingarm, lowered more ,
9.3 at 144mph, not realy making much more power but the suspension/ride height is better
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1259000340.jpg

Photographers musn't like black, had some great wheelies just carrying the front to mid track and one strange thing where it bit hard and jumped and took off, both wheels airborne ... spewing there were no shots of that, esp as i made some changes so it doesn't happen again..

Just waiting on pistons that seem to be lost in the mail before i can pull it down and build it for big boost, finished the header for the gt30 , still have to do the intercooler , and i want to loose another 25-30mm out of the front ride height

i like the electric shifter thing

Booster
08-12-2009, 08:46 PM
Me too ,so far less complicated than the airshifter ... very easy to use as long as you order it with for drag not street and don't get the big safety delay stopping you from double shifting
And remember to hold the button for 5 secs everytime you start to initiate shifting

Little bit more suspension work and a smaller but good condition turbo (2560 plainbearing) now down to 9.06 with a 1.50 60 ft:D
boost controller solenoid decided to show its age and not work so 7.5 psi was the most i saw for all but the last run
8's are very close, so i ran in the grudge runs after failing miserably in the comp (forgot to arm the shifter.... 1st and last time for that) changed out the solenoid and guessed some settings , ran 9.08 , 1.58 60" and slower to mid track than my previous 9.06 but made ground up top surging wildly on overboost cut , guessed settings gave me 15.7 psi on a 10 psi fuel map and 12 psi boost cut, i'm sure the ERC fuels A8C just saved me a lot of trouble , got to learn to back off when it doesn't feel right [:I]

Hey Greg, this thread is very interesting.just a couple of questions re;your electric shifter.apart from the 5 sec arming to set up whats involved in set up with setting the delay time and of course who supplied it and aprox cost.keep up the excellent work M8 enjoy yourself and hopefully we will see you in the west one day....morry

Maybe see you in Jan Morry, Livewire is racing prostock again so planning on going over to show some support and also catch up with my daughter who moved over in Oct

time delays are microswitches just set the desired level, think mine is on 70ms, longer than needed but not one missed or crunchy shift , brought mine on ebay s/h, when it arrived ..no workie..[}:)] but found the gearchange buttons had corroded contacts, just brought another new bar set from Procycle .

Best price new will be US ebay but there will be no support , or for local buying with local support Ben or other members should be able to help

Which electric shifter did you use?

Have a mate sticking a GSX-R1K engine in an offroad buggy. Reckon the electric shifter is the way to go.

Morry be good to catch up, will call for sure ,
sounds like my 1k is at a similar stage to Bretts CBR over there in WA, said he ran a 9.09 at 154mph at the same length as me

Mick its a Pingle, be good on a buggey once in first and rolling but not without manualy selecting first , Pete has one on his 750/busa turbo streetbike, looked good at Casino and after talking to him about it decided to get 1

Megawatt longer , lower the front more , custom valved shock , need it to drive forward not up, aiming for a 1.38 or so 60ft

31-12-2009, 12:30 PM
Morry: He's a slack prick. Turned his phones off for the holidays, too.

Booster: That's what I ordered through Maurice. So you need to manually select first... Hmmm, will have to put some thought into tht little detail.

2 issues Ign kill stalls the bike if you select a gear at idle and if you have clutch in long enough to slow or stop gear rotation the hard shift may bend the forks
