Went to the auctions today and saw this..

Had some other bastard try to buy the bike, but in the end I won!! :D:D

So took the bike home and parked her in the shed next to my other bike...

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/27822550448591.jpg

She looked a bit sad, so decided to make her a bit happier by putting her on a diet...

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/27822550446540.jpg

Removed some of the old plastic bits (read trash) and saw that she was much happier. Only prob is that she has no rego on her!!!

Was a bit inpatient, so took the h/light of my other bike, wacked on a set of indicators, taped up a few wires, stuck my plate on her and took her for a quick spin.....

All in all, not a bad day.

Had a day off from work, bought a bike and took her home, and within 2 hrs of her in the shed, I had remoed her clothes, given her a quick facelift and took her for a test ride!!!

Life is good

Nice pick up Wacky, you, chase and Bear (if he comes) will have heaps to talk about at the Nobody's Fool Run. With the number of binned R1s going around I wouldn't be surprised if they overtake the gixxer as the most common fighter.

Took t to work this morning. It's bloody mental. Had my housemate on the back. All it wants is to try to lift the front wheel off the ground in the first 3 gears....

TurboKat
14-08-2008, 08:08 PM
Good pick up Jules, you said you wanted something with a bit more power than the GPX... well, you got it that's for sure. ;)
Can we count on you being at the next trackday? [:p]

Well, finally getting off my ass and starting work on the R1. Gonna be a budget build and a slow one. Start working on it and sell a few parts to buy other stuff. Gonna be easier to work on now since I have a car.

This is what I'm starting off with

Got home after work yesterday and decided it was time to start. Have been collecting a few parts over time for it.

Twin spots (will replace when have cash) with screen
pro-taper bars
wavy rotors

Still need to buy indicators and mirrors and down the road an alluminium overflow bottle.
Hoping that I'll be able to use stock cables by re-routing them, but we'll see about that later on

So, fairings off, dismantled controls and removed top triple. Took me just over an hour, so i was happy.

Top triple is going to be taken to work to drill out for the risers. Will have to see if I'll need to strengthen it some how then.
Also going to make a bracket for the twin spots today so i can mock it up and have a look at it.

Looking good mate but i reckon the lights need to come up an inch or so to make the fly screen about level with the top of the risers. You also need to move that shiter out of the way to give yourself some room to work.Just get Rabbit to push the clutch less wonder onto the street lol

More like excited Tim. That was about 5 hours after I had got the bike home from the auctions. With the h/light off the Kwaka, took it out for a spin. In fact, now I remember how light the front end felt with no fairings on,mmmmmmmmmmmm

Haven't been posting much as I've got a friend over from overseas and been out most of the time. Bile's back on the road, not finished, but in rideable condition.

Still making brackets for the indicators and need to re-do the wirking for the h/lights, but other than that, it great.

Never realised what a difference it would make to the handling, took a while to get used to, but now I'm loving it.

Also, the grin factor has increased ten fold :D:D:D feels so much lighter on the front now, just pops up sooo easy. Makes it more controlable on 1 wheel [8D]

Well, sorting out a bit of the wiring for the headlight. They only have one filament in each spot. Was trying to wire them up so that I camn have 1 on for dim and both on for bright. Only prob is that I have to bridge the dim and bright from one of the connections and that fuck it all up for me. Was wondering if I coud get some sort of onee-way resistor, so that the current can travel only one way (therefore not linking dim and bright)

wackyrider

Some more pics of the bike in its current state. Also just fitted the rear disc. Next is the crash knobs to be put on, but the bolts supplied are too long. Will get another set through work.
