This was brought up at the save gibbo party and i thought id ask everyone ... I've spoken to the tuner at work and he said he's up for it and will run the dyno .. So far i dont have a day set (but it will more than likely be a saturday)or a date, but i can tell you, you can bring any bike you have and run it as many times as can be fit into the day... So if you want to change stuff and find out what it does this is your chance..It will be in Lilydale in the eastern burbs..
The price will be 1 slab of green beer per bike..
So if your up for it say YES and then we can work out a date if i get enough people.

how many runs do you get? and do you get time to do things between runs? i can rejet in 30 or so mins

latheboy
11-07-2008, 07:31 PM
You get one run then i tell you to fuck off and leave .... Unless you ride a suzuki :D;)
You can have as many runs as you can get into the time we're there .. at least half the day, more than likely a full one....
The go will be everyone line up you'll get 3 power runs and shown whats going on .. if you want go and change something and line up again and do this as many times as you can .. or till its right...
Bring tools, jets, exhausts, spark plugs what ever you want to change .... try different cans and the like .. air pods V's air box .. You get the idea

Firstly, big hugs & kisses to Ivan for organising the day, I can't think of many better ways to spend a Satdy - Thanx mate & put me down as a definate for the next one. [^]
Good turnout of ASF types on the day, if I remember correctly there was -
My good self - ZXR 7/9
Booster - SRAD Turbo
Latheboy of course - Gix 750
Shano - "Stuntfighter"
Deano - 7/11 Racebike
Parker - FZ1 & Gixersix Racebike
Timbo - ZXR 7/9
Kato & Stelf - ZX7
Doc - "Turbotractor"
ZRX Mick - ZRX 1100 (or maybe 1200?)
Z Power - Z 1000
Mick (Booster's mate) - SRAD Turbo
Gibbo - err... Hilux Ute [?]
Who have I forgotten?
As usual it was good to catch up with the crew over a few beers & a hot Dyno [^] A few just wanted to know how much power their bikes made & a few more were changing jets, adjusting needles & pushing buttons. The SRADs were awesome to hear in full flight - until they broke traction or spun the clutch up anyway - & the sound of a turbocharged 1200cc pushrod V Twin with a shorty dump pipe has to be heard to be believed !

My first run had the A/F ratios all over the place & Ivan & Tony changed the Lambda sensor thinking the methanol from Mick's SRAD might have hurt it.
Looking at the graph, Booster thought it could be plug related so I borrowed a good used set from his mate Mick (thanx Mick, I'll get those back to you) & it cleaned up a bit on the second run but went WAAAAY lean (off the scale) from around 3/4 throttle & the power line took a big dive & only picked back up just before redline. Up 'til it goes lean it pulls a real strong line so that's a good sign I spose so I've only gotta give it a couple of adjustments here & there to clean up the curve & get it to make strong power to redline. I don't reckon there's much more peak HP in it with the skinny standard headers & 38mm carbs (maybe another 7 or 8 HP) so I'm not going to worry about chasing the perfect setup, I'll stick the Akra I got off Ben & my FCR 39s on for nextime & concentrate on getting them sorted, then set up the Nitrous [:p]
When's the next one Ivan? I'm free tomorrow...
Oh yeah, only 105 HP [V]

Booster
27-07-2008, 08:24 AM
Ivan and Tony thanks heaps :D
Learnt lots about what bike.. fueling is pretty close But need a clutch with grip!!! Just over 10,000rpm ,180hp & ZING [V]
Methanol 750 with the lockup clutch was 230odd hp when its clutch let go
going to try grafting a gsxr 1k basket to the drive plate .

I don't think there was anyone that didn't learn something about there bike, some of the torque dips and lean spikes were eye openers

Deano and Shane made me appreciate the efi even more ;)

Great day, thanks Ivan. Think my hearing should return to normal soon, the two turbo srads from Booster were fuckin nuts [:p] Deano and Shano must hold the world record for carbs removed, jetted and replaced the most times in one afternoon :). thanks again to ivan and tony, was a great day even if i now hate jetting carbs.

was a great turnout and a perfect bbq was cooked in the morning for us when we arrived.

my 7/11 was about as good as it could get but a small lean spot on the needle ment that 1 raise in the clip position was about all i had to do. tried out the dyna ignition and couldn't see any difference in the power, mostly because of the fcr39 carbs tony had to wind on the throttle progressively therefore by the time he got to wot and the graph cleaned up the rpms were to high and it didn't matter what setting i had the dyna on as full timing was all in by 6500rpm.

after seeing a spike to 160hp spike (unlike ozkat i won't be claiming that figure) but both runs saw 112hp

It's a snap open rich spot caused by the big squirt of fuel going in when the slides aren't open enough vs RPM/load.
