Hey Scott, when I showed up here a couple of years ago with my GS500 I coped a fair bit of stick and still do get it every now and then. But I think I redeemed myself with all the mods that it's undergone in the last three years and you'll find many people agree.

Building a streetfighter is about individualism and if that means starting with a Hyosung so be it.

Keep up the good work mate.

dont you hate it when you get carried away , only was going to be a half hour oil and filter change , has now turned in to a week long mini make over , with the missus in the back ground goin "how much more money you goin to spend on that thing " and turns out replying with "the same as you spend on clothes and shoes" is not the best way to answer :D

Gotta hand it to Hyosung, they have done for bikes what Hyundai did for cars. Built a pretty cool, well priced machine that is no where near as crappy as you would expect it to be and in a lot of ways competes blow for blow with the major brands. But the thing I like the best... they have ripped the ass out of new and second hand major brand bike prices YAY!!

Nice ride man.. I really like the look of them and you have improved the beast dramatically!

HYOSUNG whats wrong with a Hyosung? It has USD forks with a nice chunky top yoke just begging for a set of anodised silver flat drag bars, Twin spar tubular frame, sexy V twin engine, kick arse rear end, and a real nice twin headlamp conversion.

If you dont like the name, paint over the f@cker! But the rest of the bike looks top notch streetfighter to me matey.

An another thing........ 'How much more money are you going to spend on that bike?'
Spends loads on clothes and shoes!
Are we married to the same woman mate?

hyofighter
05-10-2008, 10:19 PM
not married to the same but i do think there all the same :D , and i do like my bike a lot because its different to the usual name brands

zx12argh
06-10-2008, 12:30 PM
The only issue with a hyosung is the sometimes dodgey components and build quality - but if your building a fighter it makes a great idea. I said this ages ago - if you are going to ditch half the stuff and replace it/rebuild it then who cares what you start off with. Especially considering I saw one in good nick on motorcycle disposals this morning for 1500 bucks. Cheap.

You'll just need to stick a blower on top so you can keep up with everyone else ;)

hyofighter
06-10-2008, 07:11 PM
to true , i am a member of the korider (hyosung) forum and there are sure a lot of lemon bikes out there real hit and miss with any of the earlier models pre 06 but have seemed to have sorted the problems out but this has not helped there resale value at all , touch wood havent had a drama yet , as for power to keep up with the big dogs turbo v twin 650 would be great , but i am happy with what i got at the moment keeps up with the others in the twistys at the moment

hyofighter
29-10-2008, 09:47 PM

Lookin good mate.
Yeah, the older Hyo's do hav some problems, one of my mates hav one that we're in d middle of modding a bit, but the thing doesnt even start anymore. Probably due to abuse and neglect rather than build quality tho.

What else u got planned for it???

update: turns out that 12579 ks of good hard riding and chasing rockhard (moz) on his ducati fighter through the hills is all a hyo 650 motor can take , seems it devoloped a bit (insert massive) rattle ,and knock .

good thing its under warranty still and there going to repair it but after i get it back it will be time to move on whilst it still has some warranty and time for a new project

Docktor
16-03-2009, 08:01 PM
Mmm, never looked at them frames before but they would come up sweet with some trickerising and usd's on em stock yeah ?
how did ya go with the shift light ?. I got one here from pete before he moved his pistop up north and the bastard needs tossin in the bin.

hyofighter
16-03-2009, 08:05 PM
was a real pain in the arse to get working i basically used the internals of the tacho as a signal modifier , is posted somewhere in this thread

and yes USD's as standard there okay but not the best no preload adjustment

Hey Scotty, thats allegedly chasin. its not like you were pulling massive revs or anything, you were smooth and quick that day..

hyofighter
17-03-2009, 09:07 PM
many have been smooth but quick im not sure on , more cubes will fix that , you still have that vfr there at work or anymore , are the 90-95 models the same bike just cosmetically different ?

Looks a lot better than I thought it would when I read the thread title.. good work! I very nearly bought one of them as my first bike a few years back, but ended up on a GS500 just due to hesitancy of the hyo build quality etc..

17-03-2009, 09:31 PM
Another Hunkadung does a big end, when they first landed in Oz I did heaps or warranty claims on big ends at real low Km's too.
Bad luck, be carefull your mods dont affect your claim.

hyofighter
27-03-2009, 10:46 PM
hey oldskool you was right , dropped into the dealers today to see if they had started on it , he said that they drained the old and found the hardening from a bearing in the sump so they reackon the big ends gone [B)] , pretty sure that i told them about the developing noise was coming from the bottom end , but there going to rebuild it was hoping for a new crate motor but o well , 6 weeks and i might get it back!!!!:(

hyofighter
28-04-2009, 11:41 PM
no new motor there rebuilding it , they found crank end bearings were stuffed not the suspected big ends , they reackon that the crankcases are out of alignment but i think this is a bit of a cop out as if it was it wouldnt have lasted 13000ks id thought

its been 6 and a bit weeks its stripped and there waiting for engine case to turn up they reckon 4 more weeks , WTF how long does it take
need to ride real soon watching to much ghostrider dvds and moto GP with the helmet on isnt cutting it

then its for sale any takers

this all sounds very familiar
i had similar problems with 2 sv650 motors

sorry to hear they are dragging their feet on this hyo
but believe me, it could be much worse

for example suzuki aus could completely fuck you over on your warranty and leave you high and dry PLUS take months to deliver parts when you pay to have it rebuild after getting sick of waiting over half a year.... :(

Hey Guys, its a sad statement on the way the australian distributors of most motorcycles on the market just dont or wont hold stock so that repairs take much longer to complete.smash repairs are a fuckin nightmare.the poor customer can wait months, especialy european and all the while the local bike shop cops the flack.mostly the the customers especialy the people who have been longtime regulars are understanding but its just not right...

hyofighter
15-05-2009, 11:54 PM
understanding is my middle name , its a good thing im a nice guy and dont mind the wait but it is starting to wear thin

16-05-2009, 07:41 AM
The car industry isnt much better.

Had to wait for 6 weeks for a air con adapter piece to come out of Hyundai after a minor front bump.

Dont worry mate, I have read bad things about the Suzuki M109 cruisers too, and I shelled out $19k for one 3 months ago, havent had any drama's yet.

its back finally , not to happy with the dealers quality of work clutch side of the bars bar end missing found under the seat and has a black clutch lever fitted when it was silver before , got them to change it but , could lead someone to thinking that they dropped it but cant see any other evidence to prove it , thottle cables not adjusted and not fitted properly

still engine sounds sweet not even a slight hint of cement mixer full of rocks sound , seems to go a bit better to but a fresh motor and bmc filter could account for that , still glad to have my wheels back

well bit of an update , i didnt sell it but i wasnt fussed if i did and what the hell im keeping it coz its a talking point and laughing point for others , its been going good so when moz took the bullfrog tribute bike to the drags i ventured down to run the hyo was a hoot sure it wasnt all that fast with my best being a 13.5 at 96 mph but i did get higher mph in other runs and crappy 60 footers but i reackon shes got a 13.2 in her , then ill jet her get some more aggets and maybe a 12.9 then ill be happy
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1256319622.jpg

After a run to the drags and a long midnight ride home i got to work the next day changed back a gear blipped the throttle and cough she spat out one of the carbs and tore the carby to head rubber boot 2 weeks wait and $150 i got 2 boots and 2 orings and shes all fixed aswell as all the loose clamps the dealer had left loose at the engine rebuild
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1256365547.jpg

whilst she was apart i lifted the tank to get some better airflow to the airbox and trimmed the lip of the front of the airbox to get that air in there havent been for a burn yet but i dare say it made fuck all difference but its worth a try
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1256327970.jpg

next is to take a trip up the road to cunderdin to a get a custom 2 into one section made and a side exit exhaust like what ben shaws tl venom had on it then dyno it to jet it correctly then redo the front end lights dash and put some flat bars on it
