Guys, Just looking for a bit of a hand.. building my dream project at the moment..

have to get rid of that horrid arse on my 89 zxr 750..

looking for something smaller, not long at all..

Anyone got anything sitting unloved at home that they'd be happy to sell, or trade off for bourbon ? or cash or both..

Make it yourself!

Will cost you about 50 bucks and you will get exactly what you want.

Cruisecontrol: I've done a bit of a search on here for info, I assume you're talking about fibre glassing.. I've done a bit of glassing before.. but never made anything like this..

Can you point me in the right direction ?

It probably won't. Youll need to get yourself a slab of HD foam and sand, chiesel and cut the beautiful shape you want. Then Either glass over that or make a mould form it using the technique in the above link. The following link also gives you an idea of another technique although I recommend with this one that you make a simple mould from it and go from there. http://www.designbikes.de/Hoecker_e.htm

It is brilliant, I'll be making a few up, one for my 11 and a little one for my 250. Can anyone explaing how the vacuum bagging works?

from what I've heard and seen, it's just a big plastic bag - vacuum cleaner in reverse... suck it out ! ( tho, i could be wrong.. ) but I've seen it done on glassed racing dinghy's.. makes em cure better..

I'd really like a mold of an existing - cos I have absolutely nfi about how to shape or what kind of form is going to be strongest to support my 100kg ass.. ( I'd hate it to break while riding it or doing a wheelie or something )

You wouldn't have to go monocoque like that one - just design it with your subframe in mind an bolt your seat directly to it. Custom seats aren't too hard I've made one myself. Just fibreglass up the shape - get some high density foam to pad it out and pay someone to cover it. Exben has done a how to on making your own seat.

I agree with what Pete said about bolting your seat directly to the subby. That is what I did and my 100kg arse suits it just fine.
Regarding the seat, you can also just buy a seat in the shape that you like and make a few mods to it to get it to fit. Here is my effort:

That bike looks HAWT cruisecontrol, thanks for posting the link !

It's given me an idea of how i should plan it out.. I was thinking I'd have to cut it out of a solid piece ( not shaped slices ).. how long did it take you to get it back to bare frame ?

As in pull off the tail/seat unit/lights etc? About 20 minutes.

I kept it simple by keeping the subframe relatively stock and made the tailpiece around it as opposed to making the frame fit a specific tail.

Show off Cruise ! , Did you have to cut the seat up mate to get it to fit ? thats the only thing that I have left and it killing me to try and get it to work

I had to trim it a little around the front to get it to fit the contours of the tank. That meant removing a couple of staples to get the covering out of the way, hack at it with a dremel & scissors and then just fold it neatly back over and staple it back on.
I am no upholsterer and I found it a very simple process.

Ah, so you want to add, not remove.

I got a tail section for an 04 CBR 1000.. but it's missing the air vent covers and the under box ( with mount points )

I also need the rear cowl cover ( as it's open )

I've managed to locate a tail light for it..

Anyone got any bits to mount this plastic ? and a cowl ?
