am flying in to coolangatta sun and the sunday after that up to cairns for a week any good bike shops or shows on while i am up north hopefully hiring a bike in cairns always wanted to ride up to pt douglas etc

The road from Cairns to Port Douglas is OK,
nice cruise and admire the view.

If its dry, and has been for a few days, do the Gillies Highway.
By far the best road I've found up that way.
