Anyone had a frame powder coated around Brisbane ?

Prefer someone who's used to dealing with bikes not just
office furniture etc.

I know how to use google but I value word of mouth recommendations.

Thanks.
Tony.

I had my frame powder coated and I regret doing it.

It was in gloss black, I had a fuel spill and the PC has stained and looks shit.

Paint might have done the same thing I don't know, I just not happy with the PC.

If you do get it PC'ed put a bolt in EVERY thread so that the bolt is just flush with the frame if it's a through hole.

If you wind the bolt past the flush surface and it hangs out, the end will get PC'ed and will fuck threads when you wind it out.

Make a plug for the head stem bearings or a flat plate on the top and bottom with a bit of all thread holding them together.

PC on bearing surfaces can be a real problem.

Same with the face the swingarm mates to... You don't want PC there.

PC can be between 0.5mm and 2.0mm depending on the opperator.

Thanks, I have had a few done, just not in AU.

Prefer to blank off my own bolts / threads / head and swingarm etc,
hopefully they can mask VIN and compliance plate.

Seems to be a few places who can do it but I'd rather use someone who is used
to bikes not just pool fences and window frames.

Had a mob at Darra/Richlands do mine - they had little tapered rubber bungs that they installed in the threads to keep the powder out of them - they do a few bike frames from the looks of stuff.

They do good work, weren't too spendy - have had a bit of stuff done by them over the years.

Don't know if you found anywhere Tony, I use Precision powdercaoting at Yatala. He does plenty of bike stuff and rides himself, he's got an old Z9 as well.

Best place EVER for powder. Powder comes out like paint and he masks everything perfectly.

basicly ceramic in anything that hpc would do, the work i looked at seemed to notch
the clears where amazing and the wet powder coat look a lot thiner and gives a better looking finish
that dosnt lose detail of parts like norm. only had a bit of a chat with him when i was buying bearings from next door.
i liked what i sore and i like his attitude.
