got this back yesterday.

this is for a 1100w and the oil filler restricts the diameter of the window. as it is the window opening is 104mm but for the oil cooled were the filler is in a different spot i should be able to go to about 127mm opening.

if anyone is intrested then let me no as i may do a CNC run of them if there is enough intrest

Hi Deano,
looks like someone knows whats he doing.

Mate, you would'nt be able to knock up a billet cover for a TL?

What can you supply mate? By that I mean do we get a donor cover to supply to you for mods, or do you supply just the window and fittings and we have to fit into existing cover? By the way, looks shit hot mate!

Chalk- not sure mate, you need to get you ruler out and check what you think the max dia of a hole is that you could put in your cover. from memory the cover/insert (pictured) needs a 127mm dia hole in the cover and the step goes out to 135mm (i think)

Gix- as it stands I would prefer to make just the alloy window and housing assy. the cutting of the cover and grinding away of the webbing on the back of the cover are very simple and just about all of us no an ally welder to weld it in place (Exben maybe).

I dont have a spare oil cooled cover (plenty of watercooled covers tho) but if somone does have one then yes i could do an exchange basis were i will have a cover already built and then you will send me your cover. this is not my prefered option as i subby out the welding and am relying on them for a speedy turn around. i will have to charge more for this service as just the welding of this cover cost me $30.

Hey Deano, excellent work mate youve got me keen. Im pretty certain the Bandit cover is identical and Id be very interested in doing it. I can remove mine pretty much immediatly since the bike is still on blocks anyway. Can I just ask aproximately how much dinero ? and how long to do it ? Cheers mate :)

Gix11
24-02-2006, 10:10 AM
Yea, mate, I can take the cover off the 7/12 or get another from the wreckers, so I'll go one as well.

Deano
24-02-2006, 11:22 AM
as for price - it is yet to be decided.

the cover that is pictured was machined as a one off but if i can get a dozen of so made then it is worth getting them CNCd

working on the fact that the welding alone was 30 bucks then for me to cut the hole and grind away the webbing and get them welded i would have to charge about $60 plus postage for just the fitting/welding on top of the window cost.

time frame depends mostly on the CNC guys and how much work they have backed up.

I will go and see the CNC guys and get as exact quote for the windows and let you guys no an all up cost and we will go from there.

If you can track down spare covers then that would be great as i would prefer to do them all at once.

maybe those with spare covers could lend/let their cover be used as an exchange for those that don't have spare covers so that your bike is not out of action.

mmm, i wonder what type of plastic the tiller covers are....

Stocky
24-02-2006, 04:40 PM
We have had some sucess with machining out the back and using a 3m silicone type product to "glue" the perspex into the cover.

Gives a clean smooth look.

I've always liked the look of the bolted in ones.

I'd like a bolted in one for my GSXR so I can unbolt the window and adjust the slipper clutch.

i have finially got an answer back back from the CNC guys and pricing is as follows

to supply the alloy window assembly for FITMENT TO YOUR CLUTCH COVER BY YOU
you will get
1 window assyembly
2 polycarbonate windows
3 replacement orings
12 stanless steel clamping screws and washers
1 tube of loctite grey max gasket maker.
1 set of fitment instructions
Price $230.00ea inc postage to Australia

If you require me to fit the window to your cover then you will get all of the above including fitment/alloy welding and i will also lap a new surface onto the clutch cover sealing face incase of heat warp during welding
also remove the oil sight glass for welding and refit and seal
price $290.00ea inc postage to australia

You will have to send me your cover and i will modify that and send it back to you.

turn around should be about a week or so.

I haven't got the window bodies made yet as i need to see how many people are still intrested at these prices.

If you consider that the guys in the UK are 185 pounds (about $410) plus shipping and once they receive your cover they say that they can ship your windowed cover back to you after 4 weeks plus shipping.

You no you want one!

At the Gold Coast bike show / mud festival they became mud scrapers so I wouldn't be treating them with too much respect mate. They're only cheap shitty ones but a bit better than the flimsy ones. The other ones are better for sticking on bikes, these go better on counters.
