Aye Kev,

I cant see the image very well , what year models are the bikes??

Are they the early GPZ's or the later like the GPZ900's?

If the later I do need a few bits for my two 900's , let me know cheers mate.

I think those 750s are mono shock and the zrx100 arm is twin shocks (can be done) and he has to be careful of tire chain frame clearance even with the 5.5 rim I think they had on the 1100.

hey Kev, does it say DFI? The only injected GPZ 750 was the 750 turbo.

I was going to mention this as well dave but got harassed by the kids before i could post.
I thought the only DFI's were the 750 turbos and 1100's? But i previous owner could have made up a bit of a hybrid i suppose.

I would go for ZZR1100 running gear. Its pretty cheap as not very popular, right way up forks, 17inch wheels etc. There was a GPZ1100 local to me in england that was running a complete ZZR1100 rear end, and from what i can remember there wasnt any major frame mods, but it looked like he had the sprocket carrier machine down as the chain was running tight on the tyre, ( like the egde of the tyre getting rubbed by the chain tight).
I suppose the other option would be GSXR750 J/K rear end with 4.5" wheel, then i think a GS500 sprocket carrier is used which keeps the chain tight on the tyre. This settup works on the old aircooled GS's and the like so these woould probably be a similar width to the GPZ750.
Love the old aircooled GPZ's, should be a good project

Dads gf just swapped her old shitter(car) for this
5361

as a bit remembrance/project from when he used to race.
5362

he says this about it:

The kwaka runs like shit ... chain stretched so surges, engine surges too, camshafts/camchain rattle when cold, something else rattles when slowing, weighs 217kg dry, skinny tyres react to lines on the road ... But it is a very interesting bike right from my early days ... manufactured the year the racing pic was taken

chain and sprockets are a simple fix, but any other things he should start with first?

Carb rebuild - resonable chance the diaphragms will be rooted, pilot jets may be blocked - this will lean it out at small throttle openings, making for a lean surge at constant speed.
Check cam-chain for stretch, check the self adjuster does it's thing.

Nice pic of him racing a GT750 though!
I can't say enough about how good the continental radials are in the skinny sizes - Road Attack 2 (you can get them in a Historic racing compound which works well for a road bike - they're aimed at things like the SPa 4 hour race, so they give reasonable life).
Bin those shocks (Throw Ikons at it at a minimum, Gazi or others if the $$ can be spared), and put a set of springs and racetech emulators through the forks - will make a world of difference to how it rides.
