I have been looking around for a while and finally I found myself a cnc mill. I have wanted to upgrade for a while to something with a tool changer and more rpm.

I had to compromise on size due to the amount of floor space I had and the height of my garage door. Also I really wanted something fully guarded, this model was available from new with a full guard option, I think I will have to do something about that. Fadal are made in USA, they finished up making VMC’s years ago but cause there are still thousands around there is plenty of suppliers of genuine and aftermarket parts. It is not my first choice of machine but given my budget was not 50k+ it was as suitable machine as I could find.

Specs are.
1995 Fadal VMC10
7.5hp spindle motor
21 tool ATC
High speed controller
Travels xyz 500x400x500
Floor space required 1.8mx1.8m
BT40 spindle taper
Rigid tapping.

This is a pic of it as it was dropped on my garage floor last week. it has now been moved into position and powered up. Just got to wait for the tooling to arrive and learn to use it.

I'm so jealous, and spewen I can't make it down for your shin dig. The atc will be a huge advantage over your home made jigger. You keeping the hone made one too?

Melbourne is too cold for you,
Move to Brisbane,

Somewhere in my street would be good,
You'd make a great neighbour!

Very impressed and a bit envious.

Well done.

I had an option to get a 4020 but it was more money and more space and height required and with what I want to do the extra travel would be nice but not a must have. Have also heard about the belts and resolvers. Both don't sound to bad to replace

Yes Travis at this stage I will keep the other one but if I ring I rarely use it I will sell it

allways handy to have a manual machine, there is always something that just needs to be touched to make it fit
