This thread is more so to see if anyone is keen than to actually organise it.

Anyone keen on a 1770 weekend? If we could organise it on one of jimmy's weekends off we could all catch up with him and others in the area.

Ok then a few questions,

1. When would people be up for this ? December ? January ? February ?

3. Tony, or anyone else that has been there recently wheres the best place for accommodation, meals etc ?

ASF have done a couple of runs up there.

The Mango Tree Motel is OK, a bit "budget"
but was better and cheaper than the two I used
in Ayr and Mackay the same long weekend.
Short walk to the beach and shops.

Again, on past runs we have always walked / got taxi's
up the hill to the pub. Good food, and stumbled back to
the motel after.

Mango tree has undercover bike parking (once you move
the chairs outside your room) lots of other places to stay
mostly nicer but more expensive. I stayed on the road out to
1770 with a heap of the Gladstone members and it was bit more
upmarket, spa / underground parking / gated complex etc,
but not cheap.

Check when schoolies is?
They aren't a drama but in the past its made it a
pain to book a room.

What's the usual route for the trip up?

I go over Mt Mee, Malaney, Kennilworth, Gympie,
up the Bruce and off at Bundy and up the coast road
missing out Mirium Vale. Some good bits,
some boring. Might look at a longer "no highway" route.

Brissy up the highway is just under 500
but it normally takes me about 650 via Malaney.

Fuck Tony, 2100ks in 2 days is some serious riding, did those sort of k's through Europe on the motorways, and they moved a lot faster than the roads over here, that was more than enough saddle time for me, and I was a lot younger then.

more quick splashes of fuel and time in the saddle.
Early starts and very short breaks covers a lot of ground.

I'll be leaving here anywhere between 8 and 9, the road works will hold me up so I'm figuring I should be catching up with Jimmy about 2 hours later, most probably at Benaraby. Should be about an hour from there, so I'm guessing anywhere from 11 o'clock onwards.

We had that room before and Mojo fell out the top bunk into Killers during the night. Fuck it was funny. There's a bunk bed, one single and one double. We had 5 of us in there. Deal was, the last ones in got the double bed. Huddo and Killers as usual were last. Double bed is prime landing target for top bunk drop outs.
