Was in Performance Bikes mag again recently,
a blast from the past. Used to be a great mag.
RIP, Gus, Ronnie, John. The good (mad) old days.

Performance Bikes mag used to have the best modded bikes.
The back page specials were excellent.
Kat's, Spondons, Harris's, YammaGamma's, CBX's etc.

Im sure if they could see the "streetfighters" of now,
then they would roll the floor and piss themselves laughing.

On the first incarnation of ASF I had a page dedicated to Steve for that very reason. He emailed me and thanked me, then said he couldn't take credit. If you're reading this Steve - Bullshit mate! :D

That was the only reason I used to get that mag. I'd flick through the rest, but "Reader's Rides" was why I paid for the mag.

I loved the second clip with the "original Monster" when Steve was attempting the world speed wheelie record and the commentator comments ".....the record for a wheelie currently stands at 153 mph and it's held by a Frenchman"

I liked Performance Bikes in the old days, not just the back page.
Ronnie Smith, Gus Scott, John Robinson, and stuff from legends
like Stan Stevens and Leon Moss. The "frenzys" they did with all
"LC's" or all "Katana's" etc. After 3 or 4 deaths and a few changes
it wasnt / isn't the same. RAPID or Streetfighters doesn't even
come close for me.

Classic Motorcycle Mechanics isn't bad.
Latest one has a good interview with the Harris Brothers and some
tech stuff from Stan Stephens and a regular page by Pip Higham
and a interesting page on a modded 1100EF.
