Started back to work today,
I'm at Toowoomba, 150ks from home and it's pissing down.

I think I'm being punished for having a 34 day Xmas holiday.

Good job it's a long weekend, I need a day off.

Wild weather! Power off to the lights in the house,
one small leak in ceiling, tree debris over the roads,
rain so hard I can't hear the radio in my shed!

Good day to be in the shed.
Started pulling out all my "spares"
F#rk! Forgot how much crap I'd collected.

Just very windy and light rain now.

I'm going for a walk later to see if I can
find the dogs bowls, BBQ cover etc.

Seen a few pics posted and in some streets
the floods are worse than the big one a while
back due to the sheer volume of rain in such
a short time.

I love Qld, but buy a house on high ground !

Rain stopped but water levels still climbing.

Kedron Brook near me.

Less than a week a go Lenny (the dog!) and I walked across it,
crossing the 2 or 3m wide stream on the stepping stones......

That happened at the end of my street, don't know what happened but the coppers have still got the road closed and are treating it as a crime scene.

Where I took the pics of Kedron Brook,
a woman took her 3 year old Son down to see
the flooded brook, rain had stopped.
Tree fell on them and killed her boy.

We had the lot. No power, no water, no phone and couldn't get out in either direction. Lasted until last night. Lucky I had a car battery, amp and speakers, an esky, some beer and some candles. Trees down all over the place. Got a shit load of work to do now, but at least now people don't think we're dead!

This was our usual road out:

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=3509&d=1359615433

The flow was so fast it was like watching the conveyor belt at the end of Bruce Forsyth's Generation Game (that's for the Poms). A whole tree would float past, then a burnt out car, then a bin, then something with legs. Was quite fun for a while. We could only get there and watch thanks to the 4x4. Small fallen trees are no challenge!

Heard a bit more news on the guy on the bike who was killed at the end of my street. Apparantley the water was only about six inches deep when he rode through, but a prime mover coming the other way sent up a big wave that pushed him over the edge and in to the torrent, that's why the police had it cordoned off as a crime scene.
