So the plan is GET YOUR ARSE TO ASHFORD !

Well it's been too long since the last time I organised an overnighter but with the website revamp and an aim to capture the motivation and do a good old fashioned meet and great by pulling hands off keyboards and putting them on handle bars.

Ashford is a small country town west of Tenterfield NSW and this time of year the temperature will be great.

I've have completely booked out the Commercial Hotel for Saturday, 9 March 2013.

So lock that in your memory....Streetfighters March on the Ninth !

I've spoken to the publicans and they are very bike group friendly and will stay open until our eyes close.

This is not an maybe....we have already booked and we are going.

The Hotel has 11 rooms with various sleeping arrangements, with singles starting at $35 & doubles from $65 with $10 more for airconditioned rooms.

The ride will be leaving from Brisbane, departure time and route details TBA.

Please put your name down if you want to go and I will start a list. The pub will hold our booking for a few weeks. If you can't confirm now, you will be able to contact the pub yourself later.

Depending on numbers and interest received, I may open this ride to other like minded people.

Last ride I organised was Harvey Bay and we filled the place. I think it went something like this....

Everyone is welcome whether they do the ride or even just meet us there.

So put your names down so we can start the ball rolling......

That's fine I knew you would be away, wish I was going too

So this is for other's that just can't wait for AFR, like a prequil I guess.

Maybe some southerners could organise a ride and we meet up along the way.

But don't worry Mr Snake there will be others.

We do a few run's down to Tenterfield and back.

Normaly go: Beaudesert, Rathdowney, Kyogle, Casino, Tenterfield,
then grab a bite to eat and head back home the same way.
Lion's Rd hasnt been great so normaly go from Rathdowney up to
"The Bus Stop" T-junction and turn left to Kyogle.
Few boring sections but several really good bit's to enjoy a play.

Which route you thinking of ?

1000ks of varying bitumen from spectacular to abhorrent, 40k's of dirt (check the map nigel not google) on dusk with roos and pigs everywhere @ 100k's an hour with tinted visors haha, the publican had given up on us and was about to close but when we finally got there she gave us the run of the joint, the pub had seen better days maybe 102 years ago, but the beer was superb the company fantastic and the only thing harder than the beds was the steak,

what a great ride and great company the TL didnt miss a beat but fuck im sore.

Thanks for organising Nigel

I'm sorry i missed it. I'ts that sort of ride i live for (and many other sorts). l've been homeless since January and now that we have finaly settled on the new place l now have to convert a shed into a home before l can ride. New home is Helidon, so when set up l look forward to meeting some western members. Six k's of dirt road to the gate, unhappy face.

Well another flawless Streetfighter overnighter/adventure (covers mouth coughs and laughs while saying bullshit)

Wow what a weekend, numbers were low as expected as there were two other major rides on the same 2 days, plus toss in all the bad weather over the last few weeks.

With the first brakedown 5 minutes into the ride, it was time to "phone a friend". A special thanks for BEN at EXTREME CREATIONS who supplied the knowledge to us that a road side repair would be difficult with out a resistor, again thanks your a time saver. Six starters became five.

The rest of us pushed on to Lawrence Hotel for a fantastic lunch via the one and only Bonalbo road (it will be a while before we do that one again) hey Michael hehe.

A short stop at Raspberry Lookout on the Gwydir Highway to take in the serenity and already 2 1/2 hrs behind was nothing, the TL was getting faster and lighter which set a new pace (now with no front blinkers or fairing screws and other things that we didn't know of).

Glen Innes to Emmaville road was absolutely awesome ..... Emmaville to Ashford road CRAP .... 40ks of dirt with washouts, crossings, dusk quickly approaching, roos, dingos, bug smeared tinted visors, not to mention standard streetfighter h/light (my phone has a better light) Bloody google

Anyway with all the days comedy events it saw us get to the pub as they were shutting at 8pm, gee that beer was cold.

Plenty of pool was being played (with the lady publican flogging us all) and great tunes blasting out from the old juke box made for a top night.

Well all n all the ride was a top two days, 1042ks, saw plenty of backroads, had a heap of laughs, owed a pub for a night, lost a ZXR and the weather held out for us .... what more could you ask for !

Thanks to everyone that came along, we will do it all again soon ;)

Sounds like you had an interesting run.

I ended up heading back to Gunnedah from Lismore on Friday via Tenterfield > Inverell > Bingara, there are plenty of potholes to dodge on the Gwydir Hwy now hey, I went across that way, saw a few land slides and almost had a head on with a bus who was in my lane trying to avoid a fallen tree just downhill from the lookout.

Maybe next year ???
