still got to finish the filing for the side cover plates between the frame and new subframe to hide the mounting plates/flush it off

Watto
19-02-2009, 07:01 PM
i think the white sides on the tail make it look out of whack at the moment so a quick coat of black should tune things in a bit - the lines of the tank and the ductail come up alright

will get the bodywork finished up and in primer and then start on the motor

Somebody needs to design a drum brake that works on the inside of rims but leaves them looking as clean as this[8D]

Nice work mate. I was thinking of re-doing the tail on Degenerate with the GSXR one like yours as well. I only just clicked that you're doing it. Maybe I'll have to come up with something else...

Harry
20-02-2009, 11:23 PM
that's gunna look hot watto, did that front end go straight on or did ya have ta gin around with it [?]

Watto
20-02-2009, 11:38 PM
pretty much drops in mate with a top bearing change - tis a 04 model using 04 top and bottom triples

I was dicking around with a 04 lower triple with a slingy stem pressed into it but to use the top triple I needed a sleeve in it so thought sourced a suitable bearing instead - hard to get was on the only problem

still have the 04 bottom with a slingy stem in it lying around

Watto
20-02-2009, 11:43 PM
yeah bit of dicking around with the subframe Si as the new tail/subframe was a bit narrower than the slingy frame but a bit of plate and bit of welding and all good - in the process of using some 3 mm plate to fit between/around the front of the new subframe and fit flush with the back of the slingy frame so it hides the mounting plates giving the illusion of seamlessness but fuck it's a lot of filing - i chopped the back mounts off the slingy tank and used the side holes on the back of it to tie in with my subframe mounting plates by drilling and tapping some threads into it

that rear tail looks really good, the front end looks like a nice clean setup, keep up the good work

Watto
24-02-2009, 12:45 PM
Gday Chase - as I didn't chop the gixxer1000 subframe I still have the original batterybox under the seat and plenty of room in the tail for the dyna ignition

Phil - know what you are saying bout the lights but still thinkin on em - will post up a pic with the vrod light on for a comparison/peoples thoughts - for those who have had the chrome dome in the shell fall out into the lense, i chopped a bit of the back of the shell and stuffed it full of araldite so hope it doesn't happen with this one

Skiddz - yeah trying to keep the front clean - using a round acewell dash mounted off the bottom of the top triple to keep it minimalist

Large - think the big brakes are going to hide most of the front wheel but agree if someone comes up with a mini drum setup that is effective it would look the balls

Watto

finally started mocking bits up to see what I had that actually fitted and what didn't

Is that the VROD light? Looks sensational, keeps the front nice and flat.

Watto
11-05-2009, 07:10 PM
Loz - yep tis a v rod headlight with a chrome trim ring over the top half - still not entirely sold on it but I also said that about the projector lights I've got laying around - it could just be that the front guard is such the wrong shape (tis an 03/04 gixxer unit - I ended up using an 05 unit on the trumpy) it thros the whole front end out a litle

ok changed the head lights back to the projectors, re angled the exhaust (I know the can looks too long - it is almost same angle as the tail light), fitted some 320mm discs up front off a gixxa600 and spaced out the calipers to suit - blew a seal when bleeding tho (been sitting too long) so a rebuild on em is now the go and the new sprocket cover/gearshift support turned in the mail

Been drinkin too much and not doin a whole lot - going to try some velocity stacks on the 36mm CV's although heard this may not work so well - bellypan is only held on by string at the moment - woohoo postmans just been and my V&H propipe has arrived - may not use the can that came with it but like the look of the pipes coming out one side - will have a look at fitting it up in a few days but may mean the belly pan doesnt fit then

with the headlight might turn the mount 180 degrees so it sits lower in between the triples
