Mine will be up for sale in about a month, Appo.
I think you've seen the pic?
I've just got to finish my R1 and get it on the road. Need another month of pay and time.

I have a set of cbr250 wheels if you want them, just have to get spacers made up and a brake extension

My mate just got a brand new WR 450 & it has a factory sticker on the tank that says something along the lines of "Don't ride this bike on the road for extended periods or you'll fuck the engine" Knowing the design of those motors (big bore, short stroke, ultra short skirt piston, etc) & the fact that a couple of mates have hadta do top end rebuilds after 3 seasons of trail riding, I'm not surprised.

ive been told that plenty of times but Ive owned my WR400 since new (2000)
and have always ridden it on road and off. Ive never had any trouble with any part of my
bike!! although I have been told that the wr400 were the best model ever made?????
Ive only seen those stickers on the YZ's, not the WR's.???

Touch wood, My WR450 has been Motarded for over a year now and I use it to commute to work. Roughly 30ks per day.
It doesn't like cruising, it surges a little bit because there's a circuit in the carby that makes it run rich if you cruise, but the engine is running great. It's more fun to take the back streets anyway. ;)

I also went up 1 size on the main jet just to reassure myself it wouldn't burn a valve.

After 12 months of commuting, I'd say the biggest concern is gearbox snatch from a cushless rear wheel. A slipper clutch would fix that though.

Appo I don't know much about Supermoto's, but I thought with the Yammies (and maybe the others) all you did was have the rear rim laced onto the front hub and then buy a wider rear rim, get that laced on and away you go.
Although I still think you're still looking at about $600 which is not bad if getting shit machined up to make non standard wheels fit etc turns into a headfuck.
This is just what someone told me once who was about to do it, not sure if it worked out for him or not.

The only thing left then is to get a larger disc and space the caliper out a bit and you'd be done.

Motard rims are smaller diameters, Rocket. Dirt bike rims limit tyre choice (and grip).

Maybe they're 18".

Best as I know - they only reason you'd fuck a dirt bike on the road is the lack of cush drive rubbers. All the windage and excessive grip loads up the gear box too much. I've heard of full kits as cheap as $1200 (rims brakes) from china but fuck me if I can find them. Try looking at www.vsmr.net - best motard site in aus

Ideally, you'd fit a slipper clutch. Gets rid of most of the backlash snatch (ooeer!). Cheaper than cushing a hub, I reckon.

Also gets rid of some engine braking, which I find a bit annoying on the road coming into turns.
Most of the Motard racers use a slipper clutch of some type.
