Any one got a damaged or rusted frame they can cut the rear subframe off? I need the rear loop to repair the frame on my zed but want intact seat mounts,grabrail/indicator brackets ect as the ones on my raked frame are butchered.Want the section from the spine back including shock mounts.I found a complete frame at a local wrecker ($300) but don't want to buy it just to cut it up.

Knowing where they are is te easy part, geting people to part with them is a bit more difficult. Whats wrong with yours?

My frame has been raked, has had the rear section past the shocks cut off and all the seat mounts cut off it also is a replacement frame with a dealer stamped no. I was going to fighter it but now have a thing for building a z1 replica.

Call Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers, ask for Ken & tell him of your dilemma. He has a plethora of Z9 bikes & bits, he does more buying than selling but is a fucking diamond geezer & may be able to help you out.
Vic Wreckers don't sell bits for Z9s, they only wreck 90s models onwards but Ken is a serious Z enthusiast & he'll probly offer to buy your stuff instead of selling you a frame. :D
Failing that, the Z owners club would be worth a try.
Or the Kawasaki Sporstbike Riders Club forum has a section on Classic Kwakas, one of the members going by the name of Gosling 1 is a Z head of note.

Yeah I now own this! A mate had it for sale it's a little different than a z1 a/b so now the search starts for all the z900a4 specific parts. The project officially started today when I took the funky front star mag to get straightened along with the fork tubes.

what are you doing with the raked frame?

Will see if it can be put back to standard and then just keep an eye out for bits to fix the rear, I found a rear loop but no indicator/gaurd mounts. There isn't much left of the bike I bought that can be used with the new frame engine/forks legs (triple clamps are fucked cut/welded 650 top) for a resto but will keep the 19/16 star mags with 6 bolt drilled front discs the tank is a z1 (narrow neck)swing arm date stamp is sep 73 so it was once a z1a(?). In a very short time I have learned not to throw anything zed away or sell bits I don't think I need!! If it's no good then a ride to work z/gpz hybrid rat bike might be fun. When I picked the frame up this morning my mate had the proverbial holy grail in for some repair an aussie delivered z1 original mileage unrestored still had the frame sticker with all the numbers on it/chain oil tank.... fell off a trailer broke a few head/barrel fins bugga!!!

That concept of not selling zed stuff is a good one, but can get out of hand. I have about 15 spare heads, 12 sets of barrels, 6 sets of engine cases, 4 frames, 5 spare gearboxes, 8 cranks, 20 sets of carbs( 26's, 28's mostly but a few sets of smoothbores) as well as about 20 milk crates full of bits and pieces. You know, just in case. But seeing the pile has only ever got bigger, and two of my zeds haven't even been moved in 2 years, I am staring to wonder in case of what? Do you need a full set of tripples or just a top one?

Want list goes like this......
set triple clamps
z900a4 battery box
tank
engine mounts
lower fork legs (no reflectors)
side/centre stand
gauges
seat
how stock it ends up depends on $$$ required to find missing parts atm I think I'll just use what I have and put together a stock looking "bitsa".
