Torsten brought these Radial Clamping System Triple Clamps to my attention.

A full spec sheet is available here:

These things are a radical concept and have been used by race teams.

Here's a few photos also:

On alot of oldschool bikes 2 was a clamp. 3 clamps = triple clamps. Got it? Triple clamps is derived from Latin Tri meaning 3. Ple meaning motorcycle forks and Clamps meaning to hold with much vigor. :D

Ahhh Shayne, you are wise beyond words, and your latin is awesome !

Pommy Chopper
10-11-2007, 01:33 PM
Surely they should be Pentaclamps, 2 on each fork leg and one on the spindle top????
Or just yokes, sounds much better and less chance of cocky fuckers like me taking the piss out of those of us who have a bit of american in us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eh Si!!!

You ozzies have got some wierd terminology IE;
(pool tables) "bigs & smalls" what's that about, they're all the same size, even the spot on 'em all is the same size, the only difference is half of them have a STRIPE round that spot???
(ozzy rules) "footy oval" Its a fuckin' ellipse, an oval has straights on it like a speedway track???

What should we call it, a footy ellipse :(, I don't think so [}:)]. As for the pool table part, any number over 8 is big, everybody knows that ;)

no wuckers! LOL

seriously though
i like to think that it would clamp more evenly

for example a regular triple-clamp only needs to be off by a tiny amount (say a 50.1mm clamp on a 50mm fork leg) and it wont clamp well, or only clamp cos its deforming itself or the fork leg [XX(]

these should eliminate that problem, as long as the forks are round-shaped!

just out of curiousity, is the material gripping the forks aluminium or rubbery stuff?
