whoop, just checked the laverda site, Sun 15 July. Looks good, i'll probably rock up for a look. Doesn't seem to be too many modern sports bikes of any kind in last years pics though? (except said stratched katana)

If you look closely you will see Tony and Shayne on the same page as well.

There was talk of an ASF stand there this year. Hillsy put the proposition forward. I have UK in the way at the moment but if this helps:

"There's 2 areas at the park - the "trade" area (which is predominantly for shops, etc). To set up a stall here it is $150.

The second area is towards the back of the park and is where the clubs can set up a marquee - this is free. The guy asked me if we would be selling stuff and I said probably some t-shirts, caps etc - he said that would be OK in the club area (as long as we don't bring truckloads of merch).

There is no on-site power, so we'd need a generator if we wanted that, also he suggested a 3m x 3m marquee and about 6 or so bikes (not too many).

So all we'd need is a marquee, table, banners, merch and some bikes / members and we'd have a streetfighter stall. Could be a good "warm-up" for Gold Coast??

I'm happy to help further here - will bring the bike, etc. Contact at Club Laverda is Alan Johnstone 0401 980 369.

Let me know what you think"

and you think you can establish some kind of group and booking, go ahead and I'll get the rest sorted when I get back.

Ok Ladies. I have spoken to the Laverda Club organisers and they said we have a limit of 10 bikes and they ask for a gold coin donation to the charity that I have forgotten. Well at the moment I have Hillsy & Jarrod who said they'd be keen to bring thier bikes, plus I'll get mine sorted, so do I have any other takers for the day, To show their bikes and to hover around the stand and answer any questions / sell gear etc should random geezers walk over?

zx12argh
27-06-2007, 03:28 PM
Gix as per my last post - I'll only have a shiny new VTR1000 available for the show so probably not that suitable - unless of course the public want to see a fighter in progress ;) but I can wear my shirt and hang around the stand for a couple hours to do some greeting and meeting.

ok - been looking at the 12r for a bit now... part of the plan was to get a new exhaust - prob is the current one cost me 1200 bucks and I dont want to just chuck it away so thinking that I may change my plans slightly again... shit I'm worse then a woman.

Long story short - the 12r might be able to be there if its wanted :)

Course there is mate. Bring it along. I'm still waiting on the banner from Stu which would make things a bit better on the day.

As for what time to enter, well, I rang the Laverda guys and they said just turn up on the day, but being my usuual self I forgot to ask what time. I'd be guessing around 8-9. I'l give them a call and find out.

Will definitely be there, just wont be riding the bike to the show. Picked it up this morning after the mechanics were going till 7pm last night to get it ready and went to ride off this morning and it seems to die in the arse after 3500 or so... seems to gag a bit so it goes back in on Monday.

Needless to say that I will be trailering it to the show.

Heard a rumour that coppers like to hang around ouside the event and book people for rwc violations eg no hugger, no fender etc. Anyone been there before and were the cops doing this then?

I dont have any mirrors on the bike yet nor a hugger so its probably best I dont ride it there if they do infringe people for this crap.

See you guys tomorrow.

Nice photos guys, cheers. I forgot my camera as the brain doesn't work at 5am. I see you managed to catch the elusive Papa Smurf in the first photo Des? Good work.

I'd just like to thank everyone that made the effort to bring their bikes along and help out, there woudn't have been much of a stand without you.

Big thanks to Jarrod and Pete who seem to be the marketing gurus of ASF, massive thanks to Supercharger Mark for getting up in the middle of the night and freezing his balls off with me on the ride to Brisbane at 6 in the morning and helping to set up. (By the way, why is it whenever you and Beaver get together in the ASF tent there's always a waft of home grown in the air?)

Can't believe you weren't going to bring the Zed in Dave, glad you did in the end and cheers with packing up mate.

I think Gary's bike got the most photos taken with the NOS on it, cheers for bringing that as well mate.

Cheers to Zedsled, that Z1000 is great mate, can't wait to see the real deal when you get it sorted (by the way, your a Full Member as well now mate), and also Hillsy for bringing the green machine (that thing must have taken hours to vinyl up like that mate?)

.....and last but not least, Des and Kaye for bringing the Bling Machine - it got as many photos as Gary's and Des, you should be getting commission from Stu as you managed to sell about 3 rego holders, a set of mirrors and other various goodies - while YOU were at the pub!

Good to meet Pommy Chooper and Sonic Bird (get that fighter sorted mate) and also Matt, Papa Smurf, Buster, the mad man who met Davo the night before in the pub and was advised that we filled our frames with helium by Davo........ and anyone else I've forgotten.
