chris and i went down to race in the island classic. chris on his honda and me on the sidecar. got there thurs night. attended the only pub in cowes. got to the track fri morning. chris got scrutineered and got organised but my swinger never turned up till after lunch so i missed out on a few laps. sidecar went well fri. got to the track sat morn did first qualifying laps and after 3 laps the engine started losing power then as i pulled into pit lane there was a knock and it got louder as i was coming in so i shut it down and coasted to the pits so that was the last lap we did all weekend. we pulled the motor out as we could have borrowed one but as it turned out there was a part missing from which was borrowed by another competitor the day before and as our engine was a different year it didnt have it so no go. also on sat chris's bike developed a problem where the overflow bottle and the back wheel where getting covered in oil so suspect broken rings a problem which he has had previously so he was out as well. so we just watched the awesome racing between robbie phyllis, peter guest and karl corpe against the kiwi's and the poms who both got ther asses kicked as usual. great weekend and will definately be entering again next year with a spare engine.

the goose was there and check out the baffles. the black z1000h with z900 bodywork belongs to dave from canberra i have met dave at a z owners rally a few years ago.

this matchless would have to have been the most photographed bike the whole weekend. check out the pvc airbox what a work of art no wonder he has to chain it up. vic rego must be hard to get through.

That interesting XS triple is Gert's. He joined up a while back and it's in the Your Ride section somewhere. Excellent array of photos Rexie. Full effort mate. Shame about the engine though.

Nice one Rexie, I'm glad someone took some shots, I pulled my camera out & the batteries were flat :(
Some FUCKING HORN bikes there, the Poms had 6 identical (& I do mean identical) P&M framed F1 spec Z1000s with a truckload of Astralite wheels & other assorted exotica [:p] but it didn't stop them from getting well & truly whipped by Robbie, Guest, etc.
If you like Oldskool air cooled stuff, this meeting was Nirvana, most of the Period 5 (up to 1980) Zs & GSXs were making over 150 HP !!!! [:0] & Robbie (Mr. Superbike) Phillis was getting around in 1m 45 sec - in gale force winds I might add !!
Fucking TOP day out, I'm dragging my old GS/GSX bits out of the garage now ;) I want some of that action next year [:p]

I'm with you T'Kat.The class that Devo is racing sounds like my kinda era.Cant remembeer what its called.( Dave? ).But its my style of racing.If i flog the magic wand a few times, a race bike may just appear before my very eyes.

I was talking to Rexie about that, it's called New Era, If I remember right, New Era 1 is pre 1990 & N/E 2 is pre '95.
In Vic, we have club level Period 6 which I think is pre '90 & Pre Modern which bikes have to be 8 years old or more.
I'll be doing a couple of the Pre Mod. races this year on my ZX9 which should be fairly competitive (I just hope I am)

Ok ladies. Who's the ASF member that was at the classic involved in this email I just got and what were you on about so I can tell Brett where to look?:

He was asking about S/F,ing a 91 750 m, ( mine) im doing it on the cheap and its a bit of a rat, so looks aren't that important.

I don't want to buy a cast or billet top clamp, im also abit worried about just drilling a hole on the standard top clamp.

My friend said that the person he spoke to knew of someone that had cast up a wedge to suit my bike's webbing, hope this is making sense, unfortunately he didn't get any names, just one of your cards, im hoping you would be able to put me in contact with this member, as I want to purchase one of his casting's."
