This thing blows me away. He's chopped up an original frame and added frame bits to make it look a bit like a Spondon...+ a hand made swinger, EFE moteur.

I haven't been onto Oldskool for a while, I'll definately be having a look at that one though, that swingarm is almost exactly the same as the one I sketched out a couple of weeks ago :( Prick stole my thoughts [V] Oh well, at least I'll have the only one in Oz. :)
Along the same lines - check this one out Katanaphiles, the frame engineering on this one is unbelieveable, best frame I've seen I reckon. [:p]x10

MMMM, that link didn't seem to work, just go to O.S.S, GSX/Katana section, then click on Dave's Katana with homebuilt chassis.

There's not an 'active' tubular frame maker, but there is a couple of frame builders. You would have to approach them about it.

Terry Prince in Sydney would be a good starting point, or Ken MacIntosh in NZ ( would at least be able to point you at a local ).

chopawezza's a frame builder isnt he?

i have been reading that thread over the last few days
just finished and , WOW

pretty sweet looking kat by the end of it
still finding it hard to believe that the dude isnt going to replace the ERW tubing with proper stuff
that guy that almost gets booted off teh forum is 100% right and nobody seems to give a fuck!?!?!

oh well, hopefully the extra thickness of the tubing will make up for the shittyseamed tube
dont think i would be taking that sort of chance though...

still, cant believe how fast he pulled it together
that much work would take me ten years!!!!

oh yeah, have been meaning to ask

whats so much better about the EFE motor compared to the kat one???
i thought they were about the same?

26-01-2007, 11:57 AM
The Kat is 1062cc the EFE is 1135cc. The cams from the EFE are the stage 1 performance cams for the Kat. Stock Kat produces about 111 hp, EFE = 124, and a substantial torque increase.

Before the EFE came out the most common / desirable big bore for the Kats was the 1132cc kit, the EFE went slightly better in standard trim.

I think they're the main differences

Hes obviously got the right idea theres what looks to be blade forks/cbr 6 front wheel
and a blade wheel down the back.
Hes on the right track now all he has to do is replace the rest of it with Honda stuff
and hell have him self a good bike.
